Parking between the stadium and towards I-77 on Bluff is pretty plentiful. Both along Bluff and off to the side streets especially on the left side heading toward Williams-Brice from I-77 The lots start a little over 1 mile away and are about $10. The closer to the stadium the more they cost. Those closest to the stadium run $25-$40(at least last year). Closest is about 2 blocks away.

For those who asked about golf in Myrtle Beach and Charleston, I finally heard back from some of the golfers I know. These are their recommendations as I do not play golf.
Myrtle Beach:
Caledonia or Wicked Stick also there are three courses around Barefoot Landing. In addition all of the MB hotels have golf deals and arrangements with various local courses and can get you in and save you some money!
Charleston:
Kiawah Island-very expensive
Wild Dunes
Patriots Point
Seabrook Island

Any day above ground is a good one!

I may have covered this on an earlier post, but I wanted to provide some more specific information on Five Points. This may be a little outdated. The list is in order of perceived maturity of clientele (younger to older) when I was there.

Sharky’s and Red Hot Tomatoes (not sure if it is still open) – Youngest of the young college crowd for you Wooderson types.

Salty Nut – Good burger with onion rings and cheap beer IIRC. Big patio and closest Five Points bar to campus.

Delaney’s – Irish pub with live music.
Village Idiot – Sells beer by the mini-pitcher. Decent pizza, but the beer seemed to flow at this place. I attribute this to the misleading mini-pitchers.

Jake's - Similar to the Tap.

Breaker’s – Specialty is frozen mixed drinks. Good place to get started.

Bar None – More upscale than most Five Points Bars – probably the best pure bar.

Publick House (not sure if it is still open): Good English pub but a few blocks east of Five Points on Devine (2307 Devine St Columbia, SC 29205)

Yesterdays – Pool, beer, and food.

A couple of driving related things. Huger St. is pronounces You-jee St. and Gervais is pronounce Jer-vay. When driving to the stadium, if it is not too far out of your way, consider coming up Bluff Road from the I-77 area to avoid some traffic. If there is a back way, that is it. If you are a few hours prior to game time, traffic shouldn't be that bad.

I just scored a parking spot at the "Coop"! How is it there?

The Coop is a very nice parking condo. You will have a numbered space and each person will need to wear a game day tag to enter and exit(should get 10 with the space and they are VERY strict on this) They have an air conditioned building with tables and chairs. Big screen TVs and they also have a kitchen staff from which you can buy food like a whole rack of ribs. You will still need to bring your own alcohol. My family and I were given a space there for last years game against Clemsux and really enjoyed it. You will need to turn right off Bluff if you are coming from I-77 onto either key road or market rd.

Wow...I had no idea it was that cool. A coworker loves in Charleston is giving me his space. He's riding with friends and somehow tailgating with former Aggie TE Greg Schorpe.

Staying at the Sheraton on Main Street. What's my best option on getting to the game as far as shuttles, walking, or any other recommendations etc?. Don't really want to drive and park if there are other options.
gamecockhub

No matter what it will entail some driving and parking. The Sheraton to Williams-Brice is 2.8 miles. Walking is not the best option. You can drive to colonial life arena which is 1 mile from the Sheraton and take the shuttle from there. Parking at CLA is free and the shuttle costs $3.50.
Only other options are to drive and park in a tailgating lot around the stadium or a cab to the stadium but again due to the traffic routing post game you would have to walk to a pre-arrainged pickup point the cab could get to to pick you up.
You could check with the Sheraton and see if they have a shuttle that will take you to CLA.

Tks for all the good info. One more:

Will be parking at Blowfish - we have a handicapped person in our group. We are driving to CHS after game. What's best way out of Blowfish to Hwy 26? Can't go S from Blowfish after the game, right?

Looks like we head N on Hwy 48 to downtown area, then Hwy 76/21 around to Hwy 26. Is there a way with less traffic?
gamecockhub

ALawsonHoward:
That is indeed the best way for you to go to get to Charleston. Any others would have you cutting across the game traffic on Huger.

shane8203:
That is a decent area right near a high school. There are several restaurants up and down Knox Abbott. Can't speak as to the hotel itself as have never been in it but like most Motel 6s it should be a decent, clean no frills motel.

Gamecock hub, we are staying at the inn at USC. Where are the best bars near campus? Also is there transportation to the stadium from campus or would you recommend driving and parking at the fair grounds?

Gamecock hub,

We are actually staying NW of town at the Fairfield Inn Harbison near the mall.

This looks like a decent area of town and we are heading up to Greenville the next morning.

What should we be expecting to get to the game? How early should we leave this area. What is the earliest we should get into the stadium to experience the pregame activities.

gamecockhub

clw04:
That is a nice area. You can actually get to the game several ways. You can take I26 in to 126 and take either the Huger st. or Assembly st. route to the stadium or the I-26 to I-77 to Bluff rd route or even the I-20 to I-77 to Bluff Rd route(probably the longest option). I would probably take I-26 to I-77 to Bluff. I live in Lexington which is close to where you are staying and I usually leave for the game about 4hr or 4 1/2hrs before kickoff.
I would try and be in the game about 30min prior to kickoff. But at least be in your seats 15mins prior.

Does the fairgrounds sell beer or should we pick up beer from a gas station before parking? Thanks.
gamecockhub
How long do you want to ignore this user?
fourthgenag09:
No beer sold in fairgrounds or stadium so pick it up before you park. If you come down Assembly st. there is Green's Spirits, wine and beer next to the California Dreaming restaurant which has a wide variety and reasonable prices. Also note state law requires liquor to be sold in a completely separate room from beer and wine so the building is divided in half and you would actually have to make two purchases.
Also, if you decide to walk around pour the beer in a cup, the cops are VERY lenient around the tailgate locations but don't be too obvious!!

Any day above ground is a good one!

Have 4 guys in my group and we purchased a parking spot near the stadium. We are staying on the north side of town and were planning on driving and tailgating (obviously why we bought the parking spot).

I was thinking that it may be a better idea for us to cab it to the game and afterwards walk from the game to the local bars, and then cab it from the bars to our hotel. Is the bar scene close enough to walk to from the stadium? I'd prefer to not drive drunk and I know that none of us will volunteer to be the DD (have to draw straws, make a bet, etc).

What time do stores/bars start serving? What time to stores/bars stop serving?
gamecockhub

Well the Inn has a great complimentary, full American breakfast buffet with made-to-order eggs, omelets, waffles and more, in the Palmetto Room. I would go there as the food is really good and it is included in your room fee. Only other breakfast I know of near there is IHOP at 1031 Assembly St.
As to bars near campus, again if your under 25 go to Five Points, over 25 The Vista. The Inn is located about half way between the two areas.

If you go to Colonial Life Arena there are shuttles from there to the game. These are the only ones from campus. Thus you can drive or walk to CLA and take the shuttle or drive and park. Really is whichever is your preference.
Sorry, I missed your questions earlier.

You are 2.8 miles from the Stadium to the Vista and 2.9 miles to 5 points so I don't think walking will work.

Bars start serving with Lunch and don't stop till 2AM or later. There are even some that open really late(ask the bartenders at any watering hole where they go after their bar closes)Since it is a night game most will be open late.

Yep state law says all liquor stores have to close at 7PM. Beer and wine are sold 24hrs a day in most counties. Bars of course are open to the wee hours and continue selling all alcoholic beverages till close.

Sorry I missed it or would not have left you hanging. There is not much around there within walking distance. Closest is Southern Belly's BBQ on Rosewood Dr. on the other side of the railroad bridge.
https://www.facebook.com/TheSouthernBelly

During the day M-F, Seawells which is also on Rosewood but between assembly and bluff rd. has a buffet.

You are a short cab ride ( 1-1.3 miles) from the Cock and Bull pub and Rockaways both just up Rosewood drive from your RV spot.
