Has anyone ever been there. I'll be headed out there this weekend for the baseball series, and I wanted to know if there was something that I shouldn't miss. I've heard really good things about the town.

A thread about the best town in the SEC on TigerDroppings almost unanimously picked Athens….

have a burger & shake at The Grill, or maybe a chili dog at The Varsity. haven't been to "Five & Ten", but it was recommended to me. Stop by either the Georgia Bar or the Globe Bar for some brew before heading out to Foley Field.

Great college town. I was only there one night but spend time downtown Good bars and restaurants. If you eat at The Varsity make sure there is a bathroom close by.

I have relatives there. Haven't been since HS so not sure where to go drinking. Definitely hit The Varsity.

It's a pretty place.

The third deck where they put the visitors is a hell hole, though. When I was there in 2004, there were no ramps or escalators to get up there. Only stairs.

If you want a nice place for dinner, NONA is the place. Right downtown. Ate there when we were over for Basketball in Feb or so.

The main Varsity is in ATL. OK burgers and dogs.
