If you're going to stay in Columbia stay in the Hampton or other hotels near the vista/downtown. As an adult you will appreciate the bars there. If you're college age and looking to party be as close to five points as possible. If you're a creeper grad student or former student looking for freshmen be sure to be as close to pavlovs as possible.

What is the drive to Charleston like? We are thinking of staying in Columbia on Wednesday, and then driving to Charleston after the game on Thursday night. It’s not ideal, but we don’t have a strong desire to stay an extra night in Columbia. We will have a sober person with us, so that’s not a concern.

Distance wise it shouldn't be that bad. I imagine you'll hit a bunch of traffic though as there aren't a lot of highways in and out of Columbia. Would that deter me from making the drive? Not at all. We plan to head upstate that night instead of staying there.

I posted on the Nation with no real response, so I will ask here-

Does anyone know the RV setup in Columbia for games? I am coming over for the Thursday night match up and like to know where to try to get to set up,etc.

Looks like a great location, but it shows no availability.

Emc the stadium is right next to the state fair grounds. Most of those spots are sold for the season. There are a bunch of industrial yards and fenced lots around the train tracks though where you should be able to grab a spot if you show up a few days early. I don't know what it will look like on a Thursday but I know the coonasses didn't have problems after leaving the unemployment lines on Wednesday for the saturday game.

Thanks for the info. I plan on getting there late Wed night after driving in from near Chattanooga. I guess I will see if I can get a hold of someone from the Fairgrounds in a month or two and see if they can shed any light.

Railroad tracks are on either side of the fairground so you won't be far no matter what. As I recall there is a lumber yard on the east? side of the stadium with covered stalls and such. You might check there if you don't have any luck with the fairgrounds. The fenced lots are just north and east of the stadium (they keep sir big spur there prior to gametime btw). It will be an easy walk no matter what.

Charleston resident here.

On a normal day, about an hour and a half. People fly on I-26 but watch out for troopers hiding in the trees.

If anyone wants to get together in the Charleston area around game day feel free to hit me up. I've seen one other Ag in the last three years, and even less when we lived back in Seattle.

For those of us just looking for a place to stay and not concerned with the bar scene, how convenient is the Ft. Jackson area? On the map it looks like it would be easy to get to and from the stadium. Prices look decent for the area.

Fife: we had prob 15-20 Ags gather at Red's on Shem to watch the Auburn game. Signed a petition to get a club going. You must not have your address on the AFS site, the organizer pulled aggies from 100 miles radius to invite. We had folks from Dirty Myrtle to Beaufort and all in between.

PM me if you want the contact info.

Ft Jackson area won't be bad. Most traffic to the stadium will come down assembly and huger (uge-ay) and there are some side streets on rosewood you can park on. It won't be a terrible walk before or after the game.

Having lived there, stay away from 5 points. There are a few hotels in the Vista area which are probably the nicest part of the city. There is also a swanky Sharaton on Main that's pretty nice or a Marriott also on Main, pretty run down looking to me. There is no way to get a room close to the stadium. Be expecting to get a cab out to Williams-Bryce.
