Yesterday, the news about Brown and his cronies at Texas being forced out was causing consternation at Alabama. It now appears that while Brown may or may not be leaving (I have no idea what is going to happen with him and don't really care anymore -- I think that power struggle is enough to make any coach think twice about taking the Texas job and the bad publicity just might save Mack for one more year), the Saban news seems to have been almost all self-inflicted worry caused by old friends talking to old friends about a couple of overheard comments and a text message.
Of course, until the whole mess in Austin is over, there will still be doubt, but the attitude in Tuscaloosa is much more positive than it was a day or so ago. Take that for what it's worth. Something might happen to make the mood shift again, but I don't think so.
