Game Wrap up & Preview
Two weeks ago, our then-#15 Ranked Fightin' Texas Aggies beat a spirited Mississippi State Bulldog team, 51-41, moving the Aggies up to #11 in the BCS Rankings. Last week the Fightin' Texas Aggies beat Idle 87-0 in a barn-burner, for the 2nd time this season, dropping the Ags one spot in the BCS Standings to #12. While the number 12 is important to Aggies everywhere, somehow a Bye Week hurts your BCS Ranking. Who knew?
This week our BCS-#12 Ranked Fightin' Texas Aggies visit the friendly confines of Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, to play the Bayou Bengals of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College. The series between the Ags and Tigers dates back to 1899 with the Aggies winning 20, the Tigers winning 28 and 3 ties, in 1913, 1916 and 1966. This is the Aggies first visit to Red Stick since 1994. It is only the 3rd matchup between the two teams since 1995, after which the Swamp Kitties decided that they didn't want to play us anymore after getting beat 5 years in a row. Did they ever pay us the money they owe for that?
The Aggies are averaging 578.0 total yards of offense, with 198.8 yards rushing and 379.2 yards passing, and 49.2 points per game. The 7-3 Fighting Mad Hatters are coming off a 38-17 drubbing by #1 Alabama and are averaging 460.4 total yards of offense, with 184.8 yards rushing and 275.6 yards passing, and 37.9 points per game.
