a. There is no way Petrino will ever be hired back at Arkansas. A few disgruntled fans have said Hire Petrino back. AD Long, with Chancellor Support and BOT support have basically said no effing way.

b. The rumors of Petrino going to Auburn are some really bad bull. There are too many fans and big kahuna supporters who remember the midnight plane ride to Louisville by the Auburn AD and a couple of supporters where Petrino campaigned for the job while Tuberville was was still coach. Really bad juju and ahrd feelins still linger at Auburn from that whole episode.

c. Petrino to Tennessee? now that is a thought. I have heard some decent background chatter on such a possibility.

d. However, outside of that Tennesee chatter, it seems in the last 2-3 months that the phones have gone cold with regards to teams contacting Petrino's agent. Too much baggage for teams to consider Petrino?

I would tend to agree with you, but losing more than you expect opens up possibilties maybe unthinkable before.

Just an opinion, but too many central Ark Hawg fans blame Malzhan for Nutt getting fired. The whole incident with Malzahn was just one of many self-influcted errors, on Nutts part, that led to Nutt getting fired.

The funniest thing to me is the obssession with Gruden in Arkansas. Gruden, if given the choice of Arkansas, Auburn, and Tennessee, would pick Tennessee in my opinion. Like Arkansas, there is enough talent to turn around the program quickly; however, I don't see him getting bogged down there. He will get better PR out of Knoxille.

.. seesm the recruits on-campus for the LSU game are being told who the new coach will be.

Info is either Patterson from TCU, Gundy from Okie State, or Chris Peterson from Boise State. Source is unsure of the name, but is certain it is one of those 3.

info is thin, no doubt.

Wonder if Patterson saw that enormous crowd today...

actuall attendence was just north of 65k,, say 67k..?

tickets sold were over 71k...

call it betqween 3k and 6k no-shows.

Looks like some recruits decided to troll one or some of the reporters at the game.

And the reporters bit into it, hook-line-and-sinker.

At least this.. the abyssal season that was Razorbacks 2012 is done..

a. Long is either the sneakiest mo-fo in the US or the luckiest. I am thinking on which.

b. Bielema was mentioned as an option to me way back in October, but I thought" no ef--- way", so dismissed it as miscreant rumor.

c. Long's targets were Peterson, Bielema, Gundy in no particular order.

d. Long got word about 10 days ago that Gundy and Gundy's agent were playing him for more stuff at Okie State, so Gundy dropped way down the list if not off it.

e. Peterson had substantial talks with Long and representatives.. but could not bring himself to get down and dirty on going, so he told Long Sat or Sunday thanks but no thanks.

f. Back in April, when Petrino was dismissed, Bielema contacted Long himself and said lets talk through-out the season, but no action until after season ends.

g. The interest on Bielema's part was re-affirmed in several conversations throughout the year, including around the Otcober time frame I first heard the rumors.

h. Lastly, after Peterson took hisself out of the running Sat/Sun night, action got fast and furious on the talks tween Long and Bielema. Deal in principle reached sometime late Monday, with it becoming open knowledge today about 2 pm.

All in all, this is a solid hire. Not the splash hire, but one thing is sure. Bielema's teams will not be soft in the trenches, offence or defence. He likes hard nosed defence and balanced offence. Run a lot, play action a lot.

FWIW, his teaams show a lot of balance in running and passing yards, with the difference in 2008(?) being 18 yds.. something like 2800 running and 2818 passing or vice versa.

Bielema is going to have to hire some ace recruiters with ties to Texas and the South. I'll reserve judgment until I see his staff, but my initial reaction is this is not a great fit.
