"For those who aren't "insiders", the article said that Turge was still calling all the WSU recruits for DAYS after being hired at TAMU, up until it was evident Marshall was going to be hired.

He said he did it for Schaus, for Beggs, and for the WSU Seniors.

Once Marshall was hired, Turge said "enough", and devoted himself to 100% TAMU duties."

If anyone has insider do they talk about how Turge will do at Texas A&M at all next year?

From my understanding, he was trying to keep them at WSU.

he even said in his press conference that he expected to talk to his former players several more times until a new coach was hired.

His priority, though, had to be with the Aggies. What Turgeon discovered is how much the players wanted to play at Texas A&M, regardless of the coach, which is a very unique situation for an incoming coach. Too often players commit to the coach, not to a particular school, and that's when defections occur.

"I was really nervous about everything, but after the first conversations with every kid, I knew that it was going to work out," Turgeon said. "I just wanted to meet everyone face to face."

Turgeon can't get over how easy it is to see players in the state. Monday he was on his way to San Antonio from College Station to watch players in the 2008 class.

"You can do so much in a day here," Turgeon said.

As for Jones, Turgeon is encouraging him to go to Orlando if he declares to see where he is on the NBA radar. But he said he has struck up a good relationship with Jones so far.

Thanks Rlayer, its good to see the relationship that Turge builds with his players at WSU and now at A&M. Hopefully he can get some good guys in the 08 Class.

My last post was the 2nd part of what Katz said, the 1st part was his work with WSU before they go Marshall.

Excellent recap. Nice to see him be professional and appreciative of his former job, while still working his rear end off for his current job. that is hard trasnsition, and he seemed to do it perfectly.

We are better off with Mark. I would have not believed that 1 month ago but Billy was bad/

Awsome, I like him more and more every day.

This man has real class, and he works his ass off. It's gonna be fun to watch what he can do with kids he encourages and likes. I think he's going to do very well in recruiting Texas players.

The more I learn about MT, the more I like him and the more excited I get about the future of Aggie BB. Bill Byrne really made an excellent hire!

Also, the more I learn about these recruits, the more I like them (love that he found the recruits were excited about playing AT TAMU).

P.S. Is Katz assigned to cover us? I've noticed that he likes to write about TAMU BB quite a bit. Just wondering if there was any particular reason for it...Not that I'm complaining.

Ricky P is not there anymore, and Rupp is dead.....why are you over here? Nobody is ridiculing your fans mo mo, but your new coach did some shady stuff and we are well aware of it. Like it or not, our basketball team was better than yours this year. Like it or not, most prognosticators will tell you that our basketball team will be better than yours next year. I don't know what to tell you about the jalopy other than do what your university did with its basketball coach situation.....old dead legend replaced by an up and comer, and then another up and comer...etc. etc. etc. until you guys finally go to the final four till infinity.

I will be the first to admit, BCG should have handled the situation better. Every coach that went to a new location this year mentioned his previous school and players except him. He should have done the same, and I don't blame you guys for giving him the business for it. Yes, TAMU was better than us last year. Yes, TAMU will be better than us next year. I am a loyal fan, but not stupid. Tubby did a terrible job recruiting, and that is why he is now in Minnesota, so they can play .500 basketball. And I think some of the threads on here are very funny, especially the one about belly button jewelry. I can appreciate good humor. BTW, I am still mad at my girlfriend for posing for that picture. And you can count me as one UK fan who is glad that DJ honored his LOI, and plans to enroll at TAMU. Yes, we will rebound, but I want to do it the right way.

kentuckyfan1962- our basketball traditions might not be as good as yours, but our football traditions are second to none.

I love A&M football, but in all truth, it would require a lot more winning for that to be true.

KU fan, despite the razzing you have received, you and your kinfolk are welcome here. But be aware that arrogance is not well received by us, as we have quite a lot of that coming from uterus worshippers to the west. We are the new kid on the block in the national bball scene, but we recognize, expect and reward excellence when we see it, and we don't like anal sphincters who disrespect us, our school or our accomplishments, your newest coach being included.

Feel free to throw in your opinions. If they are well thought out and respectful, they will be well received. We Ags are a pretty friendly lot, 10% of anonymous internet posters excluded.

UK fan, understand that people like EKGill12thman guaranteed bcg's presence here and went as far as name calling to anyone who disagreed. many feel jilted but most of us are find with what happened, just wish it woul have been handled differently.
