*****ing about 5500 on new years eve against a no name opponent (regardless of what they've done) is a HUGE step in the right direction.

Through 10 games this year, we are averaging 5,746 fans per game, whereas last year through 10 games we were averaging 5,338 per game. So, we increased our average non-conference attendance by approximately 7.6%. Not a dramatic increase, but still an increase.

^Factoring in the ticket price hike, that's not too bad.

There were a ton of traveling whistles in this game. Wow.

It was New Year's Eve in Norman and Stillwater too. The Sooners drew close to 13,000 and Okie State drew 11,700.
Texas had around 12,000 the day before.
If you were a recruit considering playing in the Big 12 what would catch your interest?

That Billy might just be the best coach in the conference.

You don't think that "possibly the best coach in the conference" doesn't notice other Big 12 schools attendance figures compared to A&M.
He has done everything except sell popcorn to get people out without much success unfortunately.

Norman, OK population: 100,000
Stillwater, OK population: 42,000
Austin, TX Population: 700,000
College Station Population (with students gone): 22,000

Texas also counts all their season ticket holders as in attendance, even if they're not.

Yeah, I know we do too, but they've got a few more people to draw from population wise and a few more season ticket holders for the preseason #2 team in the land than we do.

"College Station Population (with students gone): 22,000"

Yet draws over 86,000 for a losing football team with students gone.
Thank you for providing Excuse #474 as to why Reed does not fill up.

The tu game (which i assume is what you mean) is a TRADITION. People go to that game because it's the cool thing to do. Oklahoma St basketball is also a tradition. They fill up for every game.

OU is practicly in Oklahoma City so a few thousand (at least) alumni live about 20 miles away. Also both of those games were televised, which does make a difference. It's new years freakin eve for god's sake. There's no way the coaches thought anybody was going to show up when they scheduled this.

So for the last time, attendance is fine, it'll be awesome in conference, let's get over it and enjoy being 10-0.

We drew over 86K for a football game when school was out for weeks in either direction? Damn, how'd I miss that?
gopitt
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Being from Arkansas you probably miss a lot. Life will be so much better when they install cable and satellite dishes in that state.

last year we broke the (then) all time A&M attendance record at the tu game which was before classes started back, the previous record was set the prior year at the KU game which ALSO was before school came back in.

Which pretty much contradicts the excuses we have been hearing here the last few weeks that we are not drawing well because school is out.
