He used to be a reporter/columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer. While he was still at that job, The Best Damn Sport Show Period would have him on to discuss trades/rumors/etc. Despite being annoying, he was pretty good in this role as the guy with the inside scoop on things. ESPN then hired him and apparently told him to go way over the top with the yelling and what not. As a result, I find it hard to watch anything that he is a part of these days.

I like him.

The Knicks are tear-wa-bull. If I had one bullet for one man, it would be Stephen A. Smith. I love when Greg Anthony looks at Smith like he knows nothing about basketball. Will someone tell Smith that no one cares about the Knicks at all?

I'm with you Deltron. I like him! Why does he have to be exactly like all the other analysts? You all take your analysts way too seriously, its just television. He might bring his information and opinions in a different way, but that doesn't mean he's an idiot.

I want analyst and not an entertainer. He tries to be an entertainer and extreme and not focus on the ball.

I don't have the attention span for any of it. I don't even know who you guys are talking about.

I watch ESPN to be ENTERTAINED, therefore I want an entertainer. Last time I checked he knows what he's talking about, too. He doesn't try to be nice to everyone. If an NBA exec makes a dumb move, Stephen A tells it like it is. I'm sick of all the cookie cutter analysts that try to be nice to everybody.

I can't wait for Stephen A's new show, "Quite Frankly".

The worst analyst out there right now is Mark Jackson. Easily the most boring man ever.

Smith has a daytime radio slot on ESPN's NYC station.Absolutely horrible; someone obviously told him to up the ghetto stuff and play up his being black because it seems that there is always some "discussion" about race going on.

Irregardless of his insight(?) and opinion, the guy is an a-hole. He's even a jerk to the other reporters/workers at ESPN. He acts like he is above them and he's ashamed to even be talking to them. He smarts of to them if he doesn't like the question, or doesn't feel the question is important, then he loves to listen to himself speak from that point on. I can't stand a single word that leaves his mouth and he even bothers me more than Stuart Scott does.

dude, those guys joke with each other all the time. they have a good time ragging on each other's picks and predictions. people are way too thin-skinned these days.

I'm not talking about when they joke on the NBA panel. I'm talking about when, during Sportscenter, there's some NBA news so one of the anchors (like Stu, Greenberg, or anyone else) interviews Steven A. for some scoop and the dude is a jerk to them. "Steven....will Lebron James go to the Knicks now that they lost Boozer and his coach?" Smith replies, "NO!......next queston."
