No playoff series won for the Rox since 1997.

EIGHT years and counting.

The only downside of this is that my Spurs have had to limit their humiliation of the Rockets to the regular season during this period. Houston can't hold it together to get deep enough into the playoffs to get their beat-down from San Antonio.

Yes, please do turn out the lights.

The Party's over for the Mavs....that is. I really care absolutely, positively zero about the Mavs or Suns. However, I believe the Mavs need a fork put in them, they're done. I would like to see a good series with the Suns, but don't expect to. Yes, like all other Rockets fans, we thought the series was over after Game 2 (now is the time to eat the proverbial crow!!). However if you would have asked almost any of us before the Mavs series, we would have probably honestly said Mavs in about 6 or 7. The MAvs kind of underperformed during the season and the Rockets might have slightly overperformed as compared to all of the prognosticators and "experts". Give them a year to improve and I think they will be fine. The fact that it went 7 is not the worst sign in the world for the Rockets. Did they choke in Game 7 - YES. I see Game 7 of this series as kind of the same as a lot of big games in any sport. A lot of the times, the 2 teams are so geeked up for the game (and tense and tight) that when one team gets off to a good start, it makes it difficult for the other team to bounce back. Examples are: most Super Bowls, 2005 Cotton Bowl, etc. No excuses, Dallas just played a much better Game 7 - period. Do I believe the better team won? - Well let's not answer that and anger some of the boys from Little "D". The Rockets had their chances and did not take advantage. The playoffs hold minimal interest for me the rest of the way, except for maybe the Finals. So I probably will watch little, if any more Mavs games. Good Luck!!!

OUT!

One more thing. All of these things are cyclical. Like Adam in SA's posts. They are good right now for the Spurs, but they still haven't done anything the Rockets did not do with their dominant big man and a revolving door of support players. Duncan is good, very good, and probably one of my favorite NBA players because of the way he plays the game all around and how he carries and conducts himself. However, he will get old, just like Olajuwon did and the Spurs will be back to the middle to lower middle tier team that the franchise has historically been.

Dallas basketball fans - I don't know what to say!

I do see good things down the road for the Rockets by keeping their nucleus of T-Mac and Yao in tact. Remember, this is their first year playing together, and Yao is basically beginning his NBA career.

Rocketfan revisionist history/wishful thinking:
quote:
the Spurs will be back to the middle to lower middle tier team that the franchise has historically been

FACTS:
>> San Antonio joined the NBA in 1976.
>> Since the Spurs joined the NBA, here is the list of NBA franchises that have won more regular season games than San Antonio:
1. Los Angeles Lakers
2. NOBODY ELSE.
>> And here is the list of franchises with more postseason success than San Antonio since 1976:
1. Los Angeles Lakers
2. Chicago Bulls
3. Boston Celtics
4. Detroit Pistons
>> Number of years that the Spurs have missed the NBA playoffs = 4... FOUR since 1976. (Three of those in the lone "down stretch" between Gervin and Robinson.)
>> The Spurs have AT LEAST reached the conference finals in each of their decades in the NBA (70s - Eastern Conf, 80s - Western Conf, 90s Western Conf twice, 00s - Western Conf twice). What other franchises have reached the conference finals in each of the last four decades? The Lakers. Anyone else? Hmm?

How do you figure "middle to lower middle tier team that the franchise has historically been" from all of the above?
