They have won the division title exactly once, and have never played in the NBA Finals.

I wouldnt call that 'really competitive.' I would call that two decent seasons in the first 20 years of existance.

Spurs have won 65% of their games every year since Duncan was drafted, and 10 of the last 11 seasons. That's really competitive.

Well now, lets not go too far. The mavs have put together a long string of "decent" seasons over the past several years. They may not be the most competitive team in the playoffs but they have put some very good teams on the floor in recent memory.

I was talking about the competitive teams of the 80s. Their teams of the 00s have had some serious talent. But before that they strung together 10 seasons without topping 40 wins. Ouch.

from 83-84 to 89-90, the mavs made the playoffs six out of seven years. i would say that they were pretty decent in the '80's, especially considering the fact that they were an expansion team. and as far as championships are concerned, they may have won one if not for roy tarpley.

Rockets are a good team, but the Spurs are better. Why is that so hard to understand? Now I'll admit I was pissed to see Houston get destroyed the last 2 games (especially without Duncan) but it is what it is.

My hope is that come playoff time T-Mac and Yao will elevate their game and the rest of the team will follow suit. Also, it would be cool to see all 3 Texas teams in the playoffs without having to play each other in the first round, hopefully that's how it'll end up.
