I feel bad for her. Her and her campaigners made a mistake with the basketball game, but I think a lot of us overreacted to it. I'm sure that Marcella is an awesome person. She would have to be to get so many people willing to paint themselves red from head to toe for her. There's no doubt that she's probably worked her butt off wanting to make a positive impact on our University, only to be jumped on by Texags.

That being said, she has still lost my vote, but I don't think it's necessary to dog on her any more than we have.

boo hoo...I got the same email word for word that everyone else got. I seriously doubt she'd meet with each one of us presonally. If she wanted campaigners at the game they should've gotten there early with the rest of us and saved some seats then got painted up in the REED bathroom. She may be a nice person but this isn't the nice person contest its the contest to see which smuck gets to be the student face of this university. She's obviously not prepared for this considering her poor PR with the athletic supporters community.

All of you who are intentionally not voting for Marcella, are you looking for someone to vote for?

this has earned back my vote, any candidate that is too good to attend the Aggie Basketball team's elite 8 playoff game in the midst of the programs biggest turnaround season ever definetely deserves to represent the student body, i mean who the !$#@ cares about basketball anyways? this is Texas A&M!

Elite = drama queen. What a childish assumption on your part. A person's campaign makes a judgement error and you sound like they should be kicked out of school and have their Aggies rings taken from them.

What is the appropriate response to a mistake? What could she say now that half this board wouldn't crucify her? If she says it was her idea, then she's not bright enough to vote for. If she says it wasn't her idea, then she has no control and shouldn't be a leader. What a crock. Move on.

This is why we clearly need to write in Antoine Wright for SBP.

The campaigners have already driven me and the majority of the people on campus nuts, and a stunt like the one at the basketball game takes the cake. I can see why Elite is mad at campaigners and Marcella in particular. Nobody but maybe 1% of the school even cares about the elections, but a lot more care about people showing up late and standing in front of them at the basketball games. She deserves whatever outcry she gets and however she handles it can either help or hurt her campaign overall, (so far it seems to be hurting it).

I applaud the collective effort on the part of Texags Aggies for lambasting this idiotic effort. I still don't believe shes apologized. I have only seen copy and pasted emails mentioning something about her apologising.

Completely irrelevant assumption. At a school as big as A&M, odds are a lot of people will know at least one of the candidates. When I was in school, I always knew a few of them, so I voted for the people I knew. Or one of my friends knew. So, I voted, but I really didn't care that much.

So it became a popularity contest. Oh wait, thats what it is every year anyway.

Popularity contest? You could make the argument (and apparently are) that all elections are some sort of popularity contests. However the larger the school, the less opportunity you have to run purely on your personality and the more important you campaign strategy/ ability to get out the most votes is. As we are part of one of the largest schools in the nation, I would say that our elections are less a popularity contest than most elections at other institutions. Students are well known for their apathy everywhere.
All of that being said, I say if you feel that strongly about the basketball campaign issue, don't vote for her...or even worse, vote for her opponent but don't keep b1tching about it. I didi like the initial guy who wrote the SGA and asked for them to limit the campaigning at athletic activities. That was taking reasonable action in response to their action. Yeah he has my vote...

Is this new to her platform since our *****ing? Even if its part of her campaign, she's apparently never read anything by or about our AD. In her video, she also mentioned tax free textbooks..... these SBPs think they can even impact sales tax laws now?

Oh my gosh, you people are losing it. Evilhomer is the only person that has said anything rational (because he's.... EVIL). It's not that big a deal. There are ridiculous campaign activities going on all the time. I think it's crazy if someone painting their body causes you to vote for that person, and it's crazy if it causes you not to vote for them. You people act like she defacated on the Bonfire Memorial. We should probably kill her since she didn't have time to personally respond to everyone.

How did you expect texags to react? Remember the listeater... its not like this is something new for the message board.
