ESPN televises the NIT, right? And, since I am out of the area, will the games be on Full Court or one of the other packages that various sports bars around town will have?
No selection show, and the announcement is low key, usually it trickles out. It takes awhile because they not only have to make their selections after the NCAA makes theirs, but they have to invite the teams, get their ok, and match the teams up.
All of our games were televised on ESPN or ESPN2 when we were in the NIT a few years ago. It's a fun tournament, but definitely different than the NCAA in that no games are on a neutral court (until the semis and finals in NYC). The NIT committee picks which teams get home games. (A lot of their criteria has to do with TV ratings and putting together good matchups) It can be a great learning experience for your team if they approach it as such. Good luck, and make the Big 12 South look good!
If I call the bar and ask them about whether or not they have a certain package that would include the game, which one do I ask about? The ESPNU channel? Full COurt?
Hopefully, the game will be on ESPN or ESPN2 and this won't matter.
High profile NIT games are usually on ESPN or ESPN2 during the week because there are no other college basketball games (and nt much else going on in the sports world). However there is no way to know what chennel a game might be on and some games might not even be on TV.
What do you mean not much going on? Just because you can watch Sportscenter every day and figure out which segment is covering for the lack of hockey, doens't mean there is nothing going on.
It takes a while for the schedule to come out since they have to wait on all those teams that are invited to the NCAA tournament to decide whether it would be best to accept the invitation or to turn it down because it would mean more to them to play two NIT games at home.
The pairings will be announced tonight at some point. Probably late tonight, but tonight for sure. With opening round games tomorrow, there is no way they can wait 'til morning to get it done.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Marquette announced Saturday that it would face Western Michigan in the first round of the NIT on Monday night at the Bradley Center.
The Golden Eagles (19-11) and Broncos (19-12) have played 28 times with MU holding a 21-7 series advantage. Tip-off is 8 p.m. CST.
I hope this searching for information on the NIT that is sure to be done tonight will let everyone know how little regarded it is and silly "would we rather make the NIT" threads will disappear forever.
Great. So our season was a waste because we didn't make the NCAA tournament. Go back a year and see if that last statement would have been said. I welcome the NIT with wide open arms.
