I imagine it is tucked away in the annals along with the "Lakers on pace for 70 wins" thread.

By the way, don't know if you noticed by Nash ALMOST had a triple double last night.

llpts, 15ast, 9To's

just thought I'd point that out.

hey mass, what was the score again?

One player had 9 to's and the spurs still couldnt win

not too worried about it. losing to the suns sans duncan AND ginobili out for just one game (not like indefinitely like mavs players) just reassures my confidence. no one will stop the juggernaught that is the spurs for the next 3 years barring shooting deaths of the players.

true, can't argue with that.

I still like the Spurs chances in a 7 game series though...Phoenix proved they couldn't play defense by allowing 101 pts with San Antonio's top 2 scorers on the bench.

I agree and would pick the Spurs in a series, but running the floor is not about defense.

(I am a Mavs fan, I am all too familiar with that mantra. )

Did you mean: juggernaut

Spursfan has been saying that for 3 years now. You guys must have matched the Lakers and Bulls and won 3 straight titles by now, right? Or at least won two in a row like the bulls, lakers, rockets and bad boy pistons did, right?
jugger"naught", indeed.

Am I mistaken in thinking that nearly EVERYONE thinks their team has the best shot of winning a championship every year(except for rocketfan, of course)?
I don't remember hearing any mav, laker or kings fans saying things like "well, truth be told, I really don't think we'll win it all this year" over the past few years. Maybe I was just in on the wrong conversations.

I've never heard any mavs, kings, or laker fan (either on here, or IRL) say that nothing other than murder can stop their team from winning the next three titles.

Apparently you never met bostonsip.

I'm was referring to the fact that fans of all teams make boisterous claims, most of which are not borne out in the end. To single out a Spurs fan for making one (I'm pretty sure the shooting death comment was sarcastic) is just another example of the anti-Spur bias on this website.

anti spur bias? if you say anything about the spurs besides "the spurs are the greatest team in the history of basketball" then half of this board jumps down your throat. theyre good everybody knows that, but come on, the next 3 championships? youre kidding right? thats whats so annoying about spurs fans, theyre the most unrealistic fans in basketball.

I wouldn't be suprised if the spurs won a 7 game series against the Suns...

However, if you want to use the defense arguement spurs couldnt play it either as they allowed 107 points...

The suns put up (on average) 110.7 a game and allow 103.0 a game...thats a better ratio then everyone except the spurs and heat...

The spurs also put up 96.9 a game and only allow 86.8 per game...

The Suns put up 20+ points more then the spurs usually allow

The Suns are a run and gun offense, they don't really focus on Defense, and considering that
a.) they are tied for the best record in the NBA
and
b.) they score the most ppg in the league

playing defense hasn't been a big thing for them all year...

and Im not anti-spurs

I lived in AZ for 18 years and grew up a Suns fan

and of course we have all heard about all those championships the Mavs have won scoring so much and not playing much defense. I'm sure the Suns will end up with the same # when it all over

as much as it pains me to say it . . i just dont see any way the spurs dont win the title. they really are a great team with a great coach.

i have come to the conclusion that popovich is so, SO SO MUCH better than nellie . . it's not even funny . . never really cared about the coaches before but it's pretty evident to me right now

the sooner nellie retires and avery takes over, the better it will be for the mavs

My point was not that the Spurs put up 101 on the Suns, the point was that they put up 101 while missing 35 points worth of their starting lineup.

That was pretty much the point.

The Spurs are clearly the favorite, although they aren't invincible. Most fans don't give their guards enough credit. They can both create their own shots at pretty much any time.

Nash has gotten quite a bit of mileage out of his talent. The guy was terrible when he got to Dallas but worked his way into a really nice offensive PG. Can't say much for his defense, though.
