I really enjoyed going to the game this weekend in Lubbock. Everyone was really cool. Ross is an unbelievable player. He was so much faster than everyone on the court. All you could do was sit back, watch, and clap for some of the plays this guy was making.

The Arena is awesome. I really like the layout inside there. The open section lets you always connect with the game. Add the fact that they paid a lot of attention to detail. Great architecture that fits well into campus. Really well done. I was extremely jealous.

I thought is was an over-reaction to pull Law out for the entire 1st half. They wouldn't comment on getting his "head in the game" but good lord he is a HUGE part of our offense. Bench him for a couple of minutes and get him back in!

Wright's dunk was sick. Although, I was very unimpressed with his ball handling skills. I think he does better with Acie to feed him instead of trying to move the ball himself. SEVERAL traveling calls, turnovers and over the top calls.

Otherwise, good time. Had dinner at the 50 yard line and enjoyed the trip except the game.

There's not much to like about tech, however their arena is awesome. It's among the best that I've ever seen. I think we built reed around the same time that they built theirs. They got the better deal.

I didn't go this year, but have been to several games there and anyone that wants to see a true basketball arena, needs to see techs. United arena puts Reed arena to shame, I'm afraid to say!

i went and saw tt play osu. had tickets on the 2nd to last row before moving. even then, there really isn't a bad seat in the house. you feel right on top of the action. that and the crowd control layout is great getting in and out and to the concessions.
their architects did it right.

I would have to echo all of these sentiments...tech's arena is sweet. Count me as one of the jealous.

They absolutely have the best arena in the conference, but there's nothing wrong with that. Reed has some things that need to be improved, but it will never be quite as good as the USA (or Gallagher-Iba, for that matter) simply because it is a special events center and not a basketball arena. That doesn't mean that we will lack the necessary facilities to win in the sport. It's really more important that we have the necessary practice facilities, and that crowds show up at games. Reed will never be as plush as some other areans, but it can be every bit as good of a homecourt as any arena in the conference, with a few improvements.

for those that like the 50 yard line you need to try out Cagle's steaks....it's a little bit out of town, but they put 50-yard line to shame

Yeah, Cagle's makes 50-Yard Line look like Western Sizzler.

You could not have enjoyed your time in Lubbock. Everyone knows that you get spit on and your grandma gets raped when you show up wearing maroon.

Get your story straight, man.

I have said all along that Reed Arena is a huge disappointment. It was built at the same time as the USA, yet it doesn't even compare. Tech has an incredible facility. Xhot - was that you behind the Tech bench?

That is what happens when you spend $26 million less. Tech themselves spend $16 million more than A&M spent and then add in the $10 million they got for the naming rights and there is your difference in the arenas.

No shocker there, we have been trying to cut corners in basketball forever. Luckily Bill Byrne has come along!

Ann Richards and her buddies on the Coordinating Board did not support TAM on anything. Our facilities have sufferred in various areas due to that and poor management at the Board, President, and AD levels. Gates and Byrne will straighten that out over time.

Yes, that's all true, but some of you people are missing the point. Reed isn't as nice as the USA, but you could say that about 98% of the college basketball venues in this country--so what. Having the nicest facility doesn't guarantee you a winning program.

Reed needs some improvements, but it is nowhere near as bad as some of you folks make it out to be. Most of the problems at Reed could be solved cheaply--only a few would require big money.

I ate at the 50 yard line back in about '97 and really enjoyed it. I got the pepper crusted steak that was outstanding.

WestTexasAg - My seats were in section 107, directly behind the west (i think) goal post. Wright's dunk was on the opposite end of mine. I was about 15 rows up with three Aggie friends and a techster. My only complaint was that the position of the 35 second clock was directly in my vision. So all action on the opposite end "in the paint" was basically blocked by the durn timer. Oh well, they were free tickets from my buddies law firm, so no complaints.

Does anyone think Reed would have been as pathetic if Bill Byrne had been here back then? Thanks Wally.

50 Yard Line is good, but I agree, Cagle's Rocks, about 10 miles west of town, and if you drive a little further you can actually buy beer!! It's out FM 2255 (a.k.a. 4th St.)
