I was curious how the game atmosphere was since the cable feed kept going out at the end, and was wondering how the running onto the court was and overall atmosphere? Like the sawing of varsity's horns during freethrows.
Great atmosphere, very loud. The fat guy w/no shirt was back in full force shaking his bowl full of jelly.
It was crazy seeing fans rush the court at an Aggie game. The last time I remember that happening was 2years ago when we beat Mizzou. But after that win, there was me, AW, Bean, King, a Reed arena employee, 2 homeless guys and a midget jumping up and down hugging each other. I still feel dirty.
It was an awesome game. Had a great time. I have been to about 90% of the home games the last 3 years. The tt game when Knight was going for his 799th win was more exciting (because it was close), but this one felt better. We play so hard and tough on defense. Texas had 22 points in the first half. 22! Great atmosphere.
hilarious! Glad to see the Ags win, and to win pretty convincingly too. A bit worried that we couldn't protect the big lead, but we responded well and didn't give in and choke like teams have before against t.u. In the past few years at home, we couldn't sustain any lead against t.u. and I was expecting the same, but Billy didn't let his guys be content with hanging close or competing, but believing they should win. Great game...I hope we can build on this and create some momentum. Nice to see the fans show up, kudos.
The student reaction was the best I've seen at a basketball game. (Granted, the students seated behind the baseline is relatively new, and the new arrangement means they don't have to jump the press table when rushing the floor.) When it became clear that the win was guarenteed, the students made their way down to the floor in preparations to rush the court at the buzzer. With a minute to go, pockets of them were jumping up and down like jumping beans. The same ocurred both before and after the War Hymn out on the floor.
We looked like a basketball school tonight.
The only criticism was that the band should have been augmented by about 20 musicians for a game like this. They weren't as loud as they should have been.

Some of my fondest sports moment at A&M were at basketball games during the late 70's..Hope now the students realize how much fun the games can be..Yes, it helps to have a good team..I hope we make Reed as intimidating as G. Rollie was in the day..Gig'em Ags..
I still say we need more students closer to the court and the seats need to come down closer to the court... it seemed like on t.v.(the people you saw the most)the people were older fans just sitting and watching the game.
Yeah, it was a great game to watch on tv. The atmosphere finally looked like a big time program like watching a Michigan, UNC or a Duke game. Nice job of the players and the fans to make this a long time coming!
It looked AMAZING on tv to see such a crowd. The fact that the students and fans were so into the game made it even better...wish I could have been there.
pbaitman - what do you mean not hold a lead? Closest they came in the second half was 9 points. You can't expect the other team not to make some sort of run - but they still never got closer than 9!
as fun as it was it had to have been 100 degrees in the student section. Of course thats better then freezin my ass off like last year. Everybody needs to show up saturday for the girls game. Arent getting the attention of the men, but are a solid 10-3.
