Not a lawyer, so I'm curious how this state court decided there's no jurisdiction while, as I understand it, most of these other eligibility cases are being argued/decided in state courts.

Yeah, Pope and Griffen are making the same case. Though Pope was prepared far earlier. Seemed like Griffen didn't even consider the possibility until summer was almost over. Pope was maneuvering basically from the moment last season ended.

This is why I'm bummed, but not devastated, that Griffen didn't win yesterday. The team has had the vast majority of practices and the entire Bahamas series of games without him.

IMO the Pope ruling had a much bigger impact on the quality of the season. Hopefully Rylen can get his situation figured out and he'll be able to play at some point.

Reading the tea leaves it sounds like the staff is fairly confident he'll get eligible at some point and be eligible for a portion of the season. The question is how quickly can he get another TRO and how long will it last before he has another hearing.

We need to delay filing the new lawsuit until right before the TCU game so that even if he only gets the preliminary injunction he gets it for our stretch of important games.

Legal Translation:

State court case dismissed only on procedural grounds. It's a case that will have to be refiled in Federal Court. Not over yet.
