No basketball is different it will take a few games to get on the same page and remember we did the same thing with smu last year and blew it at the end of regulation and got blown out in OT.
We attended the game today. Bucky had one player in the game for the last 2 minutes who shouldn't have been. We had them down by 10 points with 2 minutes to go, and they let them back in and then embarrassed us. At the 45-second mark, the team had a total meltdown.

Exhibition games are the time for that guy to get some reps.

It was the ref show all game and it was an exhibition. My only major concern is the 5 spot.

My concern after watching today was the same concern I had in July. We don't have the bodies inside to bang with the big boys of the SEC.

Curious about your comment about being the refs show. I listened To the game but obviously didn't see it. I know they called a ton of fouls but was it justified ?
Sounded like we made quite a few mental errors down the stretch of the game and would like to think that's correctable . Haven't listened to any Bucky public post game comments yet . just assuming he made some altho I don't know that for a fact.
Edited to say I just listened to his post game comments He didn't seem to suggest refs were calling too tight but rather that our guys need to relearn what's a foul and what isn't. 94 total free throws in the game . Wow.

Dam yall are acting like this in the middle of conference. This is what scrimmages are supposed to look like yes it would be ok to win, but winning ugly or learning who can play in crunch time and finding who works together is the main thing to come out of this scrimmage. Bucky knows what hes doing he upgraded the roster and we will be fine and much better. If we are making shots rebounding is not a factor and i am sure we will be better shooting than today other than haggerty.
not a big deal, but i much preferred it when we were making fun of baylor for losing exhibitions to tarleton state
If the game doesn't count then you look for what you think the coaching emphases are. I almost came to the game (from McKinney), but life has been crazy lately.
Agree with most. Smaller guys are going to have to finish at the hoop and obviously outside shooting will need to be way better. Don't have elite big man play.
Things coming together for Mbako is a big key. He was keeping folks on the court organized yesterday several times which was good to see. Early foul trouble with those whistle happy zebras.

Didn't see game but takeaway from listening and far too early conclusions wrt bigs
1) no real evidence that rumors of the emergence of Vinson as an inside force are going to

2) Irving flashed at times
3) no huge evidence we have a replacement for Agee from a leadership or rebounding standpoint. Sounds like Mgbako is trying to take on the leadership role
4) rebounding by committee as surmised by several on this board seems to be something that needs to emerge because there are likely no consistent double double bigs.

This basketball team is definitely more talented overall than last year. I don't know what that means though. Definitely going to miss Agee
I didn't leave the game yesterday feeling great. But I also left the SMU game last year saying this team is terrible and is going to be horrible in SEC play.

I left the game thinking this is a team that has second weekend talent. Not as concerned with post play as some. We have a lot more length than last year. Believe we had 5 blocks. Despite his weight, Irving played tougher/more physical than I anticipated. Hard to say on Vinson, but he looked a little improved - def bigger.
We have a number of guys that can create their own shot, but didn't look entirely comfortable with the offense yet. The entire first half looked disjointed, but you could see glimpses of the upside in second half. They're still trying to figure each other out a bit.
I liked what I saw from pope and Archie. I'm not sure a single guard off last years team would get minutes on this years team. Shelley was off, but you could see the skill and athleticism. Mgbako is a specimen, but it might take him a few games to shake the rust off. Didn't see mundey out there.
The roster overall is much improved in terms of athleticism and length, so it's hard to imagine them not being better than last year's team.

I went to the game on Sunday. I thought guard play looked good and the on-ball defense was solid.
As some others have noted, rebounding needs to improve.
And hopefully all the missed threes was just an anomaly.
