Realistic expectations for this season?

Yes, it is too early to be asking this. Nevertheless, what do y'all feel are realistic expectations for the team this year? IMO:

- finish a spot or 2 higher in the SEC regular season standings

- advance further into the SEC tournament

- 6+ seed in MM

- solidly in the top 30 of the AP poll

- improve our half court offense

- consistently generate turnovers caused by pressing/traps throughout the season, don't trail off like we did last year

I went and looked at the 7 games we lost in the SEC

@Tenn
@Bama
Florida
Mizzou
@Vandy
@Arky
whorns

Even though it's on the road this year, I do think we beat Mizzou, but I don't know that we can go 5-1 against our double up opponents this year. We probably split with Vandy and whorns, making us 4-2 in those 6 games. So, while we make up a loss from last year when facing mizzou, we split Vandy so we drop 1 there whereas last year we swept sooners in place of Vandy this year. We had close games on the road against Bama and Tenn, but I can't imagine beating Kentucky in their home court this year. So, overall, it really seems to me like we probably do around the same this year at 11-7, hopefully we find 1 better and end up 12-6

Seems pretty realistic. In terms of the things I listed, our conference record from last year is definitely the thing that needs the "least improvement". Of course we can't regress, but Bucky's performance with the team during the regular season was amazing all things considered

Even though there's not a ton of continuity from last year to this one, I expect the team to gel earlier than last season. The coaches have a better idea on how to teach this system and the players coming in probably have a better idea of expectations.
With that, I believe it's realistic to not have any non-con stinkers like last season. That in turn, coupled with a similar conference record, should put us in a position for a 6ish seed.

Yeah, I think we could have the same SEC record but be a much better team. The middle of the league should be much better than it was last year.

Non-con schedule looks a little better and hopefully we play better against it.

I think we're a fringe top 25 team and maybe a level above that if Mgbako really is back and plays like people talk about him playing last summer and this summer.

I rather expect a better overall record and a better showing in the NCAA tourney. Last yr was good but getting boatraced by UH was a testament to being physically challenged by the top tier My expectations are a little tempered by not knowing who will replace Agee as a team leader and rock to build around. I don't expect it'll be one guy but rather just overall team being better athletically and with better size.

According to Bucky our schedule is top 3 best in the SEC and in the nation so I agree that we'll be better than last year, but I don't think our schedule will show it.

Assuming he just means the conference schedule. Our non con schedule is fine but it's not top three in the country good.

Im optimistic we will be even more fun to watch, win more games absolutely more tourney games this year.

His closest comp as a coach is Nate Oats, who went 8-10 in conference his first year, and 16-2 his second year.

Should be an improvement on 11-7. I'm saying 13-5 in conference, and 2 non-conference losses. At least round of 32 - sweet 16 with a favorable draw.

Last year Bucky exceeded my expectations (not like anyone cares) by leaps and bounds. I was hoping before the season if he can get to around .500 overall due to him having to build a completely new team after most of the main portal transfers were off the board would show he is a very good coach

It was when they throttled Florida State that I thought we could make the NIT and if we caught some breaks we possibly could make the NCAa tourney.

This year I am hoping for 12-6 I conference play.

Home-and-Away: LSU, Texas, Vanderbilt

Home Only: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee

Away Only: Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina

Lsu has to be better with Wade but year two under Bucky ball with better talent so we seep them.

Aub, Georgia, Oklahoma at home should all be wins. Find one more win out of Bama, ark, tenn

Florida away is the only one I feel right now to comfortably put in the loss column. Ole miss lost by far their two best players. Miss state, s. and South Carolina should be wins. Missouri on the road is like playing on an Indian burial ground but we bring our totems. As long as Kentucky has Pope then that is always a winnable game.
