I think at this point, you have to change your attitude. We are obviously good enough to get here. Who cares if it was unexpected, I want to win now. To just be happy we are here is a slap in the face to the team. They expected to be here. Now if we lose, I'm not gonna be ready to fire Bucky.. but I'm gonna be disappointed that we lost. I promise Bucky isn't just happy to be here…

It's all going to come down to how our 3 point shooting travels. If Ruben, Rylan, and Zach can get in a good shooting groove then we can hang with anyone.
If we play like we did in the SC to Bama stretch, we can make some noise. Getting up and down the floor and hitting shots and wearing down an opponent will work wonders against a big lineup like our first round opponent. The question is, we've seen little of that since and some of the primary contributors during that stretch have been largely absent of late. We did get it going against UK though so it's still there.

Teams that got blasted by Penn state was poorly coached and not that good.
Penn state shot 13/22 from 3 that game and then 8/28 the next…these things happen. You guys do know that the other team is trying their best every game too right? Sometimes when we win or lose it's not entirely on our effort or how good we are, sometimes the other team just played really good that day or really poorly.

The 2023 team was a pretty good team that played a very bad game. That team was WAY better than our 2011 team.

Well. We are +120 vs St Marys and then +900 to make the sweet 16. So it sounds like you've got some interesting odds to play around with if you really believe we have a 1 in 3 shot to make it to the Sweet 16.

8 out of our last 12 games came against NCAAT teams and/or teams that we had faced before. I knew beating OU 3X in a row was going to be difficult. They had a lot more to prove and were hot down the stretch. We were going to get their best game.

Very happy we made it to the tourney given the starting point for Bucky, so I have no expectations. But to borrow a phrase from the CWS, I'd be thrilled with "two and 'cue" *.
* Yes, I realize the CWS is a double elimination tourney played in Omaha, and the phrase means you lost both games and went home in that context. But I'd be thrilled with one win, and I'm sure there's some decent barbecue in OKC for the team.

I think it's hilarious A&M got into the tourney with a new coach and badnews bears lineup, and Buzz and Maryland are watching from home and not even in the NIT.
Our boys are playing with house money. Would not surprise me if they reach the Elite 8 if the shots are falling.

Yes. But we were down to the last possession against Bama on the road and smoked UGa on the road at our peak. We had a huge run against UK to erase a lead and bury them. Our struggles late weren't just level of competition…more than anything not making shots.

I stand by that. I believe if we played Houston 3 times, (with them only having a couple days to prepare for us) we'd beat them once, on average.
The team that rolled Kentucky can beat anybody. The team that rolled over for OU won't beat anyone.

I'd love to be wrong, but I have us losing in the first round in my bracket. But in college basketball, all you need is one or two players to get hot at the right time to have a mini-run. Either way, getting to the tournament with this team in Bucky's first season makes it a successful year.
I just can't see a way that we lose to this piss ant little fairy school.

Yes, it was.
As my original reply stated, a clean look from 24 feet is a good shot in modern hoops -- it's why you routinely saw Wade Taylor get the green light on them, because a 24 foot 3-pointer before the defender closes on you is a better shot than a 22 foot contested 3-pointer. This is post-Curry modern basketball.
He was one of the best 3-point shooters in college hoops that year, and we gave him clean looks. "Oh he was just lucky against us and of course unlucky against the horns!" is just a lazy take.

Not a good matchup. Their top scorer is a 6'8" forward who can shoot the 3 a bit. They are 7'2" and 6'8" at the 5 and 4. They shoot the 3 better than we do, and they are a better rebounding team.
Is expect to lose by 8-10 the way we've been playing lately. We're 4-6 in our last 10 games, and have been blown out in 4 of the losses. Played 1 great game in the last 10. We've beaten 1 good team since February 1; triple overtime against a bad LSU team, barely got by a bad Ole Miss team, and got by an average OU team.
We are not trending the right way.
We won by 13. How do you like them apples?
