New army sucks and so do Aggie fans as a whole outside of football.....Which NEVER delivers anything but heartache.

Like basketball does any better

Compared to expectations, money, attendance, etc, basketball in the last 20 years has way over delivered.

We dont pretend to be a basketball school.

::: Insert "neurotic post about how our team cant play when people show up and clearly the best thing to do is stay away from Reed Arena" here:::

That's loco who would say that?

Fortunately there are no more home game opportunities for the casuals to put forth such grand plans, correlations notwithstanding.

One more game they have to win. These guys are on their own like they have been since they were left dangling after 85% of the portal players were gone before Bucky was hired. So surely at this point they don't care what we do, they're playing for the guys in the room and for themselves.

Have you ever hung around Reed after a game? 45 minutes after the UK game ended, both the team and Bucky were hanging out with the remaining students and fans. They were taking pics, hugging, high-fiving, and interacting with everyone there. This team is genuinely appreciative of the support they've gotten. They are definitely playing for Texas A&M as much as they are themselves.

Yeah, that was great to see. I will compliment the students that do show up are greatly appreciative of our hard working team. They seem like they truly enjoy watching how much effort our guys are putting in, so kudos to the diehards that make it out to the games.

As a current student, we have terrible marketing when it comes to basketball. We choose to market for the big games and just say whatever about the others hoping that people show up.
Agreed. You have to use marketing and advertising.

This falls on Trev. Period.

I will say we used to have Reed Rowdies sending stuff out over social media an making big sheet signs and hold them up at major intersections (like Welborn and George Bush) on game day

No it does not. Stop looking for made up reasons to blame Trev. Our basketball support has been complete and total garbage for over 100 years.

Students showed up big for Mizzou and sip. I'm sure losses there hurt attendance for Kentucky. Combine that with baseball and it's a tough situation. Winning basketball will cure the attendance problem, but it won't be overnight and it needs to be sustained success. Fair or not, the team will have to earn the big attendance numbers.

We had better student support in the late 70's and early 80's when the school was well less than half of today's population. I don't mean as a percentage , I would guess average student game attendance was higher then than it is now.

Playing Kentucky, a blue blood program, with our March Lives on the Line needs to marketing.

Get. To. Reed!

You're in College Once!

They don't do anything anymore. They stay at home and scroll on their phones. Its really sad

Not sure why this is a surprise… We're a football school… Next in a distance second place is baseball… And way below that is probably a combination of track and field volleyball and basketball… unless we start winning consistently and going to a final four or better, it's not really going to change

Still think it's hilarious that people think baseball is more popular than basketball.

Outside of college towns, the sport doesn't exist. No one knows its happening or watches it.

You could win 17 College World Series in a row and the median sports fan in America, wouldn't know. Do people living in Bryan and College Station know that?

I know the number of Elite8's the basketball team has achieved over the years. It's a very round number. The baseball team on the other hand has achieved that status a few times. As far Joe Q Public is concerned, who gives a ****. They don't like A&M anyway.

I don't even mean nationally, I mean here. We had more fans at the Kentucky game that started angry attendance threads than we've ever had in the history of Olsen Field/Blue Bell Park.

If our basketball history was as good as our baseball history we'd need an arena the size of Tennessee's.

We need to prioritize basketball a little more as a school and as fans.

Doesn't this argument just boil down to South vs North? South likes football better and basketball is a distant second while north likes football better and basketball is a less distant second. Until A&M wins a natty or maybe makes a Final Four run it will always be this way.
