At the 2-minute mark, they start talking about Buzz for the next 10-20 minutes. Live from Maryland athletics yesterday.

Ha you got what I didn't want. Congrats. Wish I could feel we are replacing with better though!

Seriously…..what is there to like (assuming you're more interested in a coach than a preacher)?

If he could just recruit better shooters, he'd win a lot more games even if his offense is not fluid and defense not rated elite.

But he could go win a championship there, and I'd have no regrets about not keeping him. Because it was never happening here with his recruiting to this school. Maybe something will be different up there for him.

Honestly, Buzz is a smart above average coach. He can go to a down team and make them above average and ncaa worthy. Once people start wanting more, Buzz has figured out he's not that guy and he needs to go before he's shown the door. It keeps him collecting a head coaching salary and away from the risk of getting fired.

Honestly, not the worst career decisions. When he leaves the cubbards are pretty empty tho, as he usually leaves after the end of a senior laden team. So he actually may leave a program worse than when he shows up.

Buzz has zero chance of lasting even 4 years at Maryland

Always remember...they hired him on April Fool's Day.
He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep
to gain what he cannot lose!

Meh, Turgeon left here for Maryland, hired Kansas State's ace recruiter and still only won 2 more tournament games in a decade than he did here in 4 years.

I think there's a chance, but his offense better change or there's no way. I don't think he's going to be able to have such bad shooting.

He can get to the 4 year mark just by making the dance but anything after that sbd he'll need a run at least into the second weekend

So perhaps Willard knew ESPN commentator Scott Van Pelt, a Maryland alumnus, went scorched earth on him and said, among many criticisms levied, "You don't do damage to the university and program where you've been for three years." Perhaps Willard also heard Jimmy's Famous Seafood -- the self-proclaimed home of "the world's greatest crabcakes!" -- stuck snakehead bites on the menu in honor of Willard with all proceeds donated to Maryland's name, likeness and image efforts. Or that all-time Terrapins great Len Elmore said he was weary of "mercenary coaches" who played the school like fiddles.

Yes, it's a long list of unhappy Terrapins.
More unhappy turtles

But I guess if it's been six years then it's OK to leave the cupboard bare, right?

Buzz will have to play Michigan again too. Good luck with that.

To be fair, with the portal…….no coach will ever leave a place better than they found it.

Yep, Buzz will NEVER win big unless he recognizes that he must recruit a few good, natural shooters. Relying on hustle and simply getting more from your average players does not equate to NCAA tourney success. It was maddening watching this team this year and all the crazy shots, circus missed layups, etc. Stressful each and every game. Not fun to watch whatsoever.

Think Buzz knew it and what was coming from the fan base. Plus he was looking at another rebuild with a lackluster recruiting record. And SEC is now a brutal conference. He was brillant to recognize it and run to the next best thing before he was run out of town.

All out defense is gritty and appealing but it has its downsides in basketball. Especially with the growing importance of the 3 point shot.

Tired legs just throws off the shooting rhythm. There is a reason why great jump shooters are never out there pressing and playing hustle defense. A team that plays hustle defense has to be able to drive to the basket and or post up down low. Otherwise they risk being shot out of the arena. This problem is exacerbated during tournaments when rest becomes a problem.
