Buzz himself said that he has never seen Jace Carter play before signing him; that just doesn't sound like a coach interested in recruiting. Personality is important I get it, but eventually you have to focus on improving your roster year after year. Carter and Hefner had plenty of opportunities to prove themselves; there wasn't any reason to keep both of them on this incoming roster. Hell, Yale with zero scholarships and plenty of other teams had better 3-point shooting over Carter and Hefner. I am not saying that they didn't contribute to this season but when we've had 2-3 seasons of poor 3-point shooting, go get someone like Poulakidas at Yale or Crews at Missouri, so Taylor and Phelps don't feel that like they have to score 30 to win against good teams.

The Carter info from Buzz during an interview was a littlen more than he generally gives. Yes, he said he asked the staffer over and over when they were unexpectedly dropping in on Jace, wa/is he a big time "shooter"? I thought at time might have caught him at a bad time.. He's not usually so forthcoming in circumstantial stuff. But he loved his interview w/ the kid. In this particular case, I do think someone else did the shooting eval

Brought him here strictly as a shooter. Didn't pan out, but he's not gonna throw under bus. But pretty sure there was some rough discussions on that eval of Jace as time went on. Portal decisions are made quickly.

There'll be some whiffs...see KU, BU, and on.

Yea bad evals happen but if Buzz or someone would have gone to actually watch Carter, they would have quickly realized that he wasn't top level 3PTR shooter; he has suspect handles; he is a terrible finisher and FT shooting was average at best. But as a coach, you have to care about your evaluations / roster talent or have someone on your staff that really cares about evaluations / roster talent. Keeping Carter and Hefner for this season was just lazy on Buzz and probably costed him a potential final 4 appearance.

Yep I do think this team could have gotten to a final 4; they beat a lot of good teams including a team in the final 4. But I did use the word potential.

I got starred to death in response for pointing this out 2 months ago... But it's the truth.

Hef and Carter should have been cheerleaders on the bench at best if Buzz was truly serious about winning. He knew what they offered- which wasn't enough for us to win big.

Why keep around guys for YEARS that are a liability on the floor? Go find assets. It's not hard in the NIL/super team era to upgrade the roster from that.

I wish that all of our departing coaches had to leave campus via helicopter from Simpson Drill Field.

1. Buzz woulda been starting over next year and he nor A&M is a quick re-build with elite talent.

2. The fanbase is already restless and tired of the one or two and done.

3. He saw the writing on the wall and now was the best time to leave, really for both parties.



Personally, I'm excited about the change. I think we'll see a new energy in our BB program.
