If it is Beard, I'm going to go post on the Kansas boards how little some of our fans know about basketball....

If we aren't going hard after Beard, then basketball is simply not that important to us, bottom line, end of discussion....
Not saying there aren't other great candidates out there, but he should be at the very top of the recruitment list....

This post potentially could age like milk.

It would be wild if Beard becomes our coach. HC at Tech, Texas, Ole Miss, & A&M… what a wild progression.

I definitely vastly underestimated how much it could fire up our fans if you spin hiring Beard as an "FU" to Texas. That part's definitely already true.

Kidding aside, if it's Beard, this would be the most shocking coaching search result we've ever had right?

a) hiring a head coach with that kind of off-the court issue is way out of character
b) he's got a pretty sizeable contract that he only got as a way to keep Arkansas from hiring him, and Arkansas is a much better resourced basketball program than we are, you'd think if he was gettable that they'd have gotten him
c) he's taken a team to a recent national championship appearance and elite eight appearance

any one of those in a candidate would be surprising, but all three would be nothing short of shocking right?

For basketball? 100%
Fisher was shocking in football

I'd have put us getting Beard in basketball at even a level above Fisher in football. People expect us to hire big names in football. We don't always, but it's not an absolute shock when we do. Now maybe his contract numbers were more shocking.
