The redmen were the first team I randomly started cheering for as a kid - Chris Mullins, Bill Wennington, Louie Carnesecca. Glory days of the Big East back in the 80s.

I used to root for the 'cuse back then

Derrick Coleman and Sherman Douglas were my favorite players

I'm seeing more predictions that have Tech as a #2 seed or as the top #3-seed. It's perplexing since A&M has the win. And last I checked they don't care about who was injured in those type of games so a win is a win is a win.

In all of these situations where you have a couple or three relatively equal teams to choose between the first tiebreaker should be head to head, but I'm not sure the committee agrees with me on that.

They do potentially care about the injuries.

But Tech is an interesting one because based purely on the resume we would be ahead but gun to my head if I had to pick which team I think is better, which is the committee's job, I'd pick Tech.

My problem with Tech is they live and die based on hitting 3's, and offense like that just doesn't travel that well. Sure they can probably beat anyone on any given night when shots are falling, but are they going to string together six games in a row like that? Doubtful.

Go back to their team that played for the natty a few years ago. That team had what might be the best defense I've ever seen in basketball, at least in the tournament. They were playing a who's who of the best teams in the country and shutting them down. Defense like that travels, and for teams who aren't familiar it completely throws their game off. But hitting threes is nothing new and Tech could lose in the first round if they have a bad shooting night.

Travelled well enough to beat the best defensive team in the country at their place with their coach and a key player getting ejected five minutes into the game and win at Allen Fieldhouse.

They're a top 25 defensive team and a top ten offensive team.

Maybe you're right, but they just don't pass the smell test for me. Or maybe 'sight' test is a better word for it.

I'm not saying they aren't good, I just don't think they're *that* good. If they were upset in the first round I wouldn't be shocked, and if they made it past the second weekend I wouldn't be shocked.
