you overestimate the impact of this site, esp this board. There isn't much traffic on here and it's not impacting attendance
For what, being right and daring to point it out?PatAg said:**** himScotts Tot said:
Sheesh. In the post game presser he was asked about the environment. Was complimentary of Buzz and the program but said there were no excuses for that game to not be a sellout given all the factors involved (#1 team in town, senior night, Wade's last home game, etc).
It comes from every jackass "journalist" having their only question to the opposing coach be "what did you think of the atmosphere?" like they want the Univerity to get a pat on the back. Its the same stupid question that Rick Barnes got annoyed with when he went on the watermelon rind rant.Muy said:
What a petty comment to make after a loss.
Yep. I was a student within the last 10 years, and every dude that followed sports on campus kept up with texags.Texas_Ag11 said:
Totally disagree. Every student has a premium subscription and this content gets aggregated pretty easily. Most alumni I know get their "information" on football and other sports here - not from other news sources. It's bigger than you think.
I am submitting that most other schools don't have the outsized impact that this board has. It's actually comical how much parroting back of crap I hear and see at tailgates that came from this site. The lack of awareness is pretty dramatic. Aggies are a tighter bunch than most and we live in an echo chamber a little more than some/most other schools.Proposition Joe said:
Every message board in America is like that after a loss.
TexAgs complaining is far far far down on the list of what drives students to atttend.
Hell, you could make a case that every student in attendance tiktoking a court rush after knocking off #1 in the nation would absolutely drive a "I need to be there next time in case this happens!" from casual fans.

A slightly smaller arena that is configured in a bowl for basketball with two levels would be superior to the soulless can we currently play in.

Players, coaches and most importantly recruits. I dont get why we dont support these guys.PatAg said:who carest - cam said:PatAg said:**** himScotts Tot said:

Very true statement but I've grown to accept who we are as a basketball fanbase. Ranked the entire year and do we have a true sell out? Maybe one?
Who do we replace him with? Why would a coach bother when Buzz has put out a strong team only to be rewarded with a half filled arena. It's a shame.TMF said:
Yeah. He wants Buzz to leave.

Says the guy on a basketball forum after a huge win. The Players and coaches do, which leads to more wins that apparently you care about.
They built Reed when I was there and remember having a conversation about how boring and underwhelming the new arena was. If you cant do it right why bother spending the money? It was like a morgue walking in there compared to G Rollie. G Rollie had its issues but at least it had personality.hindsight said:I attended the TAMU vs. Mizzou game in Columbia last month and the Tennessee vs. Alabama game this past weekend. The Marksman said:
Attendance has been and always will be a struggle for Texas A&M basketball. We simply do not have enough good basketball fans.
The atmosphere at both places blow Reed out of the water.
Granted the Vols vs. Bama is huge rivalry, but both venues are far superior to Reed, were packed, and loud.
It was eye-opening (for me) about how poorly we compare to conference opponents in this regard.
Free speech doesn't cause crappy attitudes. And until recently they culled the herd if it got too chippy. Probably still do.Texas_Ag11 said:
When will we point the finger at TexAgs as a primary driver for the negativity that gets generated and its impact on Aggie sports. I know it's ironic that I am posting it here, but I do think TexAgs has an outsized impact on Aggies and where they get their direction on sports. Most sports fans of Aggie athletics are not deeply engrained in all aspects and don't care to know if someone is a troll that posts here or if they truly even know what they are talking about. Instead most use TexAgs as a pulse of the teams. In the last two weeks, if I am an alumni or student that only superficially follows this team, I am not sure I would be interested in going to the game either. The talk is about our terrible venue, our team sucking, our coach leaving, how we are going to lose 6-8 straight to end the year. All that drivel spewed mostly on here, the primary conduit for fan information. We are not covered by mainstream media, so the info comes from here. If we honestly think that has no effect on attendance, I don't know what to tell you.
Bring back Jolly Rollie?!?AggieHammer2000 said:They built Reed when I was there and remember having a conversation about how boring and underwhelming the new arena was. Several exams last night (like Accounting 229) that kept a lot of students from being there from the jump but they rolled in as soon as they could. Student attendance wasn't an issue last night. Pearl was just salty he got run.
How many of the 210,000 local residents dependent on the school for their economy are for that matter??? The students at least are money in usually.oldschool87 said:How many of the 70,000 students are enrolled in a sophomore level acct class????BT1395 said:

This! Here are some attendance averages from basketball programs of large schools located in big or small town (cities):Method Man said:
"Built at a cost of $86 million, Neville Arena seats 9,121 fans for basketball games"
Pearl is right that our fans kind of suck, but we had 12,257 there.
So, if we played at Auburn's arena we would've sold out and then some.
hey stop it, Hop isn't here anymore to defend himselfProposition Joe said:

I'll also say that many of the prime season tickets are at grandfathered donation prices, which is why it often looks like a senior citizen facility in the first 10 rows sideline.
