Sheesh. In the post game presser he was asked about the environment. Was complimentary of Buzz and the program but said there were no excuses for that game to not be a sellout given all the factors involved (#1 team in town, senior night, Wade's last home game, etc).

Very true statement but I've grown to accept who we are as a basketball fanbase. Ranked the entire year and do we have a true sell out? Maybe one?

Says the guy on a basketball forum after a huge win. The Players and coaches do, which leads to more wins that apparently you care about.

What is the policy of students in the upper deck reserved seating/non-student section if seats are available? Do they have to buy a reserve seat ticket?

That would make sense. Create division in the mind of the coach that just beat you.

So was it as bad as Bruce implied or is he being overly dramatic?

There were some empty seats here and there, but student seating was > 95% full and got there early. For A&M? It was a great crowd. For a real basketball school, there likely would not have been an empty seat on this Senior Night with #1 in town.

Student section wasn't full till after the game started, and half of my row was empty the entire game. Not sure why we have an issue packing it for a game like this.

Several exams last night (like Accounting 229) that kept a lot of students from being there from the jump but they rolled in as soon as they could. Student attendance wasn't an issue last night. Pearl was just salty he got run.

I was on the first row right behind the Aggie bench and I'll tell you that it was insanely loud down there. I thought the crowd size was good.

Tuesday night at 8 pm doesn't help for non locals but he has a point. Comment wasn't necessary but he's kind of known for saying what he thinks.

Tuesday night games are tough for out of towners, I get that. But when I was a student 07-11 our basketball team wasn't as good as it is now, we had less students, and the student section was regularly full.

I get people keep defending the students, but I remember just a few years ago when students were pretty consistently spilling over into unused seats in the paid sections. You certainly never saw the student section not full at tip off for a game like this. Very weird year for student attendance.

Attendance has been and always will be a struggle for Texas A&M basketball. We simply do not have enough good basketball fans.

I wish (assuming the question came from a local journalist) that we would quit asking this question of opposing coaches. Opposing coaches don't give a damn about A&M traditions or our crowds and aren't interested in giving us kudos after a loss. They might do that for our coach or inspired play but not the crowd.

And then there is this. A portion of a game write up I found on the internet, ( MSN Sports) slamming Auburn and congratulating Texas A&M.....and their "roaring" crowd, so there is that......

They recently received a brutal wake-up call against Texas A&M, exposing cracks in Auburn's armor from the opening tip. And it's something fans can't tolerate.

As usual, the Aggies came out with undeniable energy, fueled by a roaring home crowd and the emotion of senior night. Within minutes, all the confidence Auburn's head coach had seemed to be falling apart. The team was trailing 7-0, unable to match the intensity their opponents brought to the floor

Coach Williams stopped the clock with 15 seconds to go telling the crowd, "Do not come on the court and please stay for a special presentation after".

After the game, Coach Williams got on the microphone and said, "If you have to leave, leave fast please. If you can stay we have a special presentation". In other words, "If you don't want to be here, get out".

He talked about there being "two types of legacies in sports". The first was "those who aim to be remembered, and that is most of us, and that is awesome, and that is a high achievement ". And then there are the ones that transition beyond being remembered and transition to unforgettable… they are not remembered from time to time, they are never forgotten… it is my sincere prayer that this entire team is not forgotten…"

Would have been nice to share those words with more fans.

My first thought as well seeing this thread.. a 4 game losing streak will do that.. I guarantee if they had come into this game 2-2 in the last 4 it might have been closer to a sellout.

That said, 8pm on a weeknight for out of towners is not an easy lift. Plus, as parent of a current student who wanted to be there but has 2 exams tomorrow.. she thought it better to study which as a parent paying her tuition, I am 100% supportive of..

I don't think Bruce Pearl was playing mind games. I think he and Buzz are friends and Bruce always calls it like he sees it. He can get almost any recruit he wants, so I think it was a comment more about us and less about him manipulating the situation.

I like Pearl and was glad he called a spade a spade.

Our fans blindly follow stupid ass baseball and a traditionally crappy football team because of .......?

I gave up on the football money pit years ago. At least Basketball has a trajectory and athletes that want to be here unlike the mercenaries on the football team. I wish Aggies would wake up to this, but they won't until our program suffers. (which it is in some ways)

I attended the TAMU vs. Mizzou game in Columbia last month and the Tennessee vs. Alabama game this past weekend.

The atmosphere at both places blow Reed out of the water.

Granted the Vols vs. Bama is huge rivalry, but both venues are far superior to Reed, were packed, and loud.

It was eye-opening (for me) about how poorly we compare to conference opponents in this regard.

Students showed up. Lower bowl was full 45 minutes before tip. Unfortunately old people here don't care enough about basketball outside of this board. That's the harsh reality

I was also in Columbia for the Mizzou game. We've got a long way to go to have an atmosphere like that. Yes, they went from 0-18 in conference to a top 6 team in a tough conference, but they still packed Mizzou Arena and were very loud. Also, very friendly.

When will we point the finger at TexAgs as a primary driver for the negativity that gets generated and its impact on Aggie sports. I know its ironic that I am posting it here, but I do think TexAgs has an outsized impact on Aggies and where they get their direction on sports. Most sports fans of Aggie athletics are not deeply engrained in all aspects and don't care to know if someone is a troll that posts here or if they truly even know what they are talking about. Instead most use TexAgs as a pulse of the teams. In the last two weeks, if I am an alumni or student that only superficially follows this team, I am not sure I would be interested in going to the game either. The talk is about our terrible venue, our team sucking, our coach leaving, how we are going to lose 6-8 straight to end the year. All that drivel spewed mostly on here, the primary conduit for fan information. We are not covered by mainstream media, so the info comes from here. If we honestly think that has no effect on attendance, I don't know what to tell you.
