Mills and Rencher are going to be studs for us.

Turkson and Green too

Honest question. I watch basketball every night and see freshmen contribute. Why aren't our guys playing?

While I know that many have been justifiably frustrated by some of our recent play, the truth is that we haven't really needed Mills or Turkson this season. What we seem to be doing, and what Buzz has tried to go for in the past when possible, is redshirting these guys so that they get used to the program, the system, and college before we really do need them to be contributors next season. This current Aggie team is an unusually veteran one, so we haven't needed to rush the freshmen in.

Old mindset. Players shouldn't be recruited to redshirt. Better off hitting the portal if that's the choice. Lack of sec competitive depth at wing may cost this team dearly.

So neither is a good shooter?

We have had Manny dribbling the ball up the court, we have Jace Carter shooting 3s. This didn't have to happen.

I don't know what that award really means. That could be the equivalent of Brazos County Player of the Year for all I know. But I like his highlights a lot. Good length and athleticism and seems to be able to shoot it well. Excited about him.

Ok I looked up CSS. It's 49 high schools region. So it's better than being Brazos HS player of the year. But thread title is going to make people think he was voted best player in the state and then next year when he isn't all world people are going to say this guy is a disappointment because they honestly thought he was best player in California.

He looks like a legit SEC player and a type of player we haven't had in a while at the SF spot.

Who was the Kennedy recruit that the TexAgs staff told everyone was Illinois (?) Mr Basketball? Turned out he was like his 1A high school diatrict's Mr Basketball instead, but Sandhop would never come off of the "best player in Illinois!!1!"

Nothing to do with this kid, just laughing at old Kennedy and Sandhop stupidity. Hopefully this kid can dribble the ball below his waist and make more than 15% of his 3s

ETA: Payton Allen?

Hop also said that Buzz said Aku was the best big man he had coached since Joe Jones. Which was not what Buzz said. He said he hasn't had anyone that works as hard since Joe Jones. That's a massive difference. I was like Hop you are setting this kid to be a massive disappointment because he never said he was going to be the next Joe jones.

Not sure of the name, but yea, supposed shooter that couldn't make a shot for himself or hit it if he was open. I was so afraid that Wilcher was going to be "that guy". He can hit, still not exactly adept at making his own shot.

On this team with 8 seniors that all actually contribute on a nightly basis, there is zero reason for these freshmen to burn a year of eligibility. They probably prefer it this way too given that they are likely not NBA guys in the future, so they will get their master's paid for down the road plus another year of NIL earnings.

You say old mindset but we aren't Kansas or Duke. We don't get freshmen that will contribute.

JJxvi's Surprising Fact of the Day

On November 17, 2023, in the 4th game of his 4th season playing for Texas A&M, Hayden "H" Hefner started his 9th game for the Aggies, finally surpassing Peyton "One and Done" Allen (and others) on the all-time "Games Started" list for Texas A&M hoops.

They didn't retire Wade's jersey. Just honored it.

So you're thinking that some one else could wear #4 if they want to at TAMU? Huh.
Inca

Yes, they absolutely can. Wade's #4 is hanging in the rafters next to Acie's #1. The numbers are NOT retired. Zhuric Phelps wears #1 this season, for example.

Yes. Just like Acie's Jersey is up there and Phelps is wearing his number.

Wow?! Ok, that's odd, but if it's A&M's policy then that's the way it goes. I thought that Zhuric must have asked for and received permission from Acie to wear the #1.

My bad.
