Look at player stats. None of the players have really gotten better over their careers statistically while here at A&M. They are either a flat line, or peak 1 year, and then decrease.
The days of development are done in college basketball. Go out and get a better transfer if the kid hasn't produced in his first year of meaningful minutes - at least that's the new route.

Got bad news for you when it comes to Buzz's recruiting

I agree with this as well, whatever sets we are trying to get in, teams have bullied us out of it pretty consistently to the point where we just kind of hang around the perimeter until someone either pulls or throws a grenade to a teammate and they pull.

If this same lineup were coached by say Pearl, Calipari, Barnes, or Scherer, etc what would our record look like right now? What could one these coaches do with this group? Trying to see if this group is what it is or it it's an x's and o's thing. The floor is open for discussion.

I'd say we hire one of them and find out!

Then he's working in the wrong building. Move him to ag leadership and let him go to town. Aggie basketball shouldn't be a leadership program, there's a million of those on campus already.

I'm not convinced our iso heavy offense isn't built around the idea we let one guy hero ball while the other four guy to rest for defense.

I agree with AggieEP that Buzz's "offensive system" doesn't do any of our players any favors getting open looks. We don't get as many open shots as our opponents. I put "offensive system" in quotes because usually I can't tell if there really is one, except I know he really likes guys to drive to the rack. I really don't like bashing Buzz, cause he's such a good person, but we seem to have the same problems every year.

It sounds like Buzz is wasting all that offensive knowledge he learned from those great Javelina BB coaches he was under as an assistant!

I posted this is another thread but it's clear that whatever offensive approach Buzz used to take, it changed completely when he came to A&M. Maybe he had an offensive guy on staff previously that had a much better handle on things... But sometimes really does feel like he's trying to prove he can win in a extraordinary fashion that bucks widely held beliefs.

Team Shooting %:

'08-'09 (Marquette): 45%
'09-'10 (Marquette): 46%
'10-'11 (Marquette): 47%
'11-'12 (Marquette): 45%
'12-'13 (Marquette): 46%
'13-'14 (Marquette): 44%

'14-'15 (VTech): 45%
'15-'16 (VTech): 45%
'16-'17 (VTech): 49%
'17-'18 (VTech): 50%
'18-'19 (VTech): 47%

'19-'20 (TAMU): 40%
'20-'21 (TAMU): 41%
'21-'22 (TAMU): 44%
'22-'23 (TAMU): 44%
'23-'24 (TAMU): 40%
'24-'25 (TAMU): 42%

At Marquette his teams averaged 45.5% shooting.
At Virginia Tech his teams averaged 47.2% shooting.
At Texas A&M his teams averaged 41.8% shooting.

His approach has changed significantly... Tongue in cheek, but all for the Buzz Book Club Moneyball sequel!

These games in SEC play will only strengthen the teams resolve come March Madness time.

The advantage of playing in a tough conference is that the teams you play in the Big Dance are the same caliber of competition of what you been against for the previous 2 months.

And here I thought we pay him millions to develop them into a great team as well. Being a positive role model is great, but you can do that and make talent a priority.
