Taylor hasn't been great, but he's also getting absolutely ZERO help. Phelps was better tonight but that Hefner/Carter/Wilcher/Manny group is giving us nothing.

Go look at Wade stats. They are not very good

He has had two good shooting games in conference. Otherwise, he has sucked.

His disappearance Offensively and are inability to cover three-point shooters is the reason we suck right now.

His shooting stats aren't very good. And he's had some bad turnovers.

But he also is averaging like 7 assist in our last five games. That's not nothing.

I'm not saying you're an idiot and he's been brilliant or anything, he hasn't, but at least he's mostly still been doing something. On offense anyway.

It's not hard to defend Wade when he tries to 1 v 3 and two of those three are 6'9+

Teams are focusing on him and his coach has zero ability to scheme him open. So he's pressing and forcing it.

They are putting everything they have on Wade. He can't breathe. We are playing very good teams with very good guards. If they focus on stopping one guy, they can do it.

I don't disagree on the help. It's been completely absent for the most part.

And I'm not saying Wade isn't a great player. He has proven that and then some.

But, it's completely fair to say he is having a rough stretch the last 4 games, especially shooting the ball. He has been good from the free throw line (our lone bright spot). But he is shooting 28% from the field over the last 4 games. Plenty of early deep 3's (which is nothing new for him), but also lots of careless dribbling into traffic with no discernible plan, resulting in turn overs or putting teammates in no-win positions.

It's just what it is. We don't have a deep enough team for our #1 scoring threat to go on long absences, while we give up open 3 after open 3 on the other end.

I did really appreciate the increased chances for Payne tonight. But once FLA figured out we had no perimeter threat, he was left trying to score through a forest of trees.

Yeah I'm not saying he's been great, but getting to the free throw line is the same as making shots. So he's 3/10 from the field against Vandy but 13/16 from the line which is 6.5/8 from from the field. So that's basically a 9.5/18 shooting game which is obviously good if he does that from the field right? How you score doesn't matter if you're scoring at an efficient rate.

How your scoring absolutely matters how teams defend you and how easily the refs can impact your play.

I mean in a forward looking way it matters but it doesn't matter in a "was this player effective in this game" way.

I don't know what we're arguing about. My only point is that 21 pts and 6 assists isn't disappearing.

He's obviously in a shooting slump. I'm just saying he has still been semi effective at times, he hasn't just vanished from the stat sheet.

Yeah I get what you're saying, and it doesn't necessarily apply to this argument but there's plenty who focus on his overall point production and have kind of looked past the method in which he is producing and how it impacts the entire offense.

Some of you have a memory of a Wade Taylor that does not exist. He is a career 36.7% shooter. He has always been a volume shooter. A typical game for him is 4-12 from the field. Compared to last season he is taking fewer shots but his assists are up.

I agree he takes some WTF bad shots once or twice a game. But a lot of his bad shots are a result of a poor offensive possession and him having to force something. But a "bad" Wade shot is better than a "good" Jace/Solo/Manny shot.

Against Tennessee he had 18 and 9. That's 36+ of our 69 total points he scored or assisted on. Similar numbers against Vandy

His shooting has been in a really rough stretch. I don't get this sentiment that he's been a negative by any stretch.
