Stepping down after this season. I wouldn't mind if they went after Beard or Drew. From what I read, buyouts at AL, FL and AU might be too high.

Hopefully a big name takes it before they even consider Buzz.

I have read that IU may be coming after Buzz to be their next head coach.

I read he was in the second group of consideration, but who really knows except for IU.

From what I remember, A&M was a destination job for Buzz. Hopefully, this won't be an issue.

To Buzz's credit, other schools should want him. He has proven his method and success at 3 big schools.

I'm not sure Scott drew is a realistic target for them or not but he's from Indiana. He turned down Kentucky so he may be at Baylor until he retires.

Chris beard might be interested in an ailing blue blood.

Assembly hall is a neat place to see a game but it needs some work. Not sure how much that facility hurts them with coaches and recruiting.

Zero, maybe even negative, chance Buzz leaves A&M for another job. This is his final stop.

I hope you're right that Buzz retires here.

But we don't support basketball at a level that the chance of him jumping to IU is zero.

LOL, we've heard that a time or two or three before.

Indiana is a blue blood--their program is a little bit stale, but make no mistake: they are all-in on basketball there. Thus far, A&M is only a "final stop" job for washed up coaches.

Not to mention, this team is similar to teams Buzz has built before he left. Senior laden.

Hoping Buzz stays because he has turned a corner with recruiting and portal players. Not to mention WINNING.

I hope Buzz stays as well. But, I don't know what you've seen to think his recruiting has turned some kind of corner. He coaches a style that can win with the lesser recruits he can get.

Buzz at IU will be similar to Billy G. at Kentucky. Blue bloods won't work hard enough to play the kind of style that these coaches expect. Buzz better keep his a$$ in Aggieland where he is a perfect fit.

I'm not sure IU is a true blue blood program these days. Since 2002 they haven't been past the sweet 16 and that they have done only 3 times.

That said, I agree with your general idea that he isn't a good fit for the program because they still think they are a blue blood and Buzz is a blue color coach that wins with gritty, sometimes ugly basketball from kids that work their butts off that aren't 5 or in most cases even 4 star recruits.

Si.com links buzz to Indiana because…he is a good coach. Literally no other reason in this clickbait article.

I mean- SI is basically written by AI these days. All they sourced was On3s list of candidates, which were several.

The headline of "linked" is completely untrue.

If A&M is going to lose Buzz, this is the offseason.

Buzz's market value while an A&M coach has never been higher.

He is deeply invested in this roster. He loves these guys. Next season will not include Taylor, Coleman, Garcia, Hefner, Phelps, Wilcher, Obaseki, or Carter. Only Solo and Payne are "regulars" who will return.

Buzz's son just graduated from Allen Academy.

If Buzz wasn't from East Texas, I would say the odds of us keeping him here were 50% at best. Basketball coaches love to coach where basketball is a BIG deal.

I pray we keep him. He's the best coach and leader of young men we've ever had in this program. We are incredibly lucky to have him.

I live in Southern Indiana about 70 miles from Bloomington. Fans around here like pretty offenses more than hardnosed bb like Buzz plays.

Its a much different situation here (IU, UL, UK, Purdue are all close). Fans are more basketball savvy here.

I don't think Buzzball would be well received in Bloomington, offense if not pretty enough. It's not just about wins, it has to look good too.

I completely agree. Buzz would be a bad fit at IU for the reasons you cited.

A program that hires Buzz has to be willing to give him some runway and be willing to embrace, well, the chaotic style of play and aesthetically ugly offense.

Unless they pony up so more NIL $$ he will be gone. Word on the street is the team has only $500,000 of NIL that Buzz pretty much raised that on his own

I really love Buzz and his staff and their overall approach to the development of these young guys. I am a bit confused why we think A&M has not invest enough resources when Buzz is the #11 highest paid coach in the division 1 at $4.48 million per year. Ahead two spots of Indiana's coach Mike Woodson. Perhaps NIL needs to be a priority and also the assistant salary coaches but our coach is well compensated per the marketplace.

Does anyone believe these numbers?

Here's the thing- if Buzz hits an Elite 8 this year, we all know that money will be flowing like wine.

If he doesn't, ain't a lot of schools gonna be calling that are paying $4+M and offering big NIL deals.

It's pretty easy math to understand.

The admin's not going to do another big extension if we don't at least hit a sweet 16. And nobody else is coming calling.

Is it mainly NIL what we are missing in terms of resources? About 1 year ago, I heard the person leading the Texas a&m United NIL (former head coach men golf) and I was a bit disappointed in the lack of strategy and vision.

Do you think regardless of Indiana's vacancy, Buzz might be interested in other openings like Virginia?
