Anyone tracking potential transfers?

Looks like we are going to have room for up to 4, if no one else leaves.

Can use help at all positions.

I mean at this point almost everyone in the country feels like a potential transfer. Will definitely be something to track when seasons start ending and players start making announcements though.

Method and MarcAg need to present their top 20 guards from programs we might be able to poach from.

CBB is moving to 15 scholarships next year, right? Eligible to return:

Payne
Solo
Lee
Mills
McDermott
Ratowski
Turkson
Rencher
Glass
Green

Looks like the rules next year will also allow for partial scholarships, so it's possible a guy or two at the bottom of our roster get half each, but who knows. What I don't know is if you can have non-scholarship players on the roster anymore.

6 is probably a good guess, as odds are someone who could comeback won't.

How many basketball transfers entered the last cycle? Wasn't it greater than a thousand? I wonder if teams gotta start thinking about using some A.I. techniques to try to sift through and communicate with the horde of players in the transfer portal.

Looks like its changing to a roster limit of 15 with no scholarship limit. I would think a program like A&M would have everyone on full ship, but that will be interesting to see.

It's also a terrible idea in my opinion. It would totally screw up the flow of players into the sport from HS. High school kids can't just take a 5th year, they have to go somewhere. If a ton of 5th year guys are clogging rosters, you're going to have decent players from the HS ranks who may need a little development or be six months from their growth spurt not get a shot at all and potentially be exiting the sport all together.

The NCAA giving just a blanket extra year due to Covid was ultimately a dumb decision and now they're worried about more lawsuits so this is their supposed solution.

I will admit though, it would be great for A&M basketball next year.

You could argue that it would just push more talent down to more schools.

I think that is probably true and you see it now with the quality up and down the sport this year with all of the old guys. However, I think it limits some of the guys who may start at a small school and develop into a high major player. I recognize that is probably rare enough that it's negligible though.

We have 8 seniors, and we lose them all….correct?
That's a HUGE impact.
Also seems like Solo and Payne are the only 2 non-seniors playing meaningful minutes.

One big assumption is there isn't some new court case that eliminates the current 4/5/6 years of eligibility. I haven't seen it yet but after the Vandy QB got his Juco years to not count because it denied him NIL earnings potential, maybe Wade and our other players running out of eligibility will do the same.

Yates has an Uncle or Cousin on the USC coaching staff. Was previously on Washington's staff (Yates transferred from Washington to USC). Don't think he's coming home unless we get Quincy Pondexter on our staff.

That percentage will be easy enough to bring down to our level.

There is one thing that could make things very interesting. The NCAA is considering giving everyone 5 years. No redshirt rules, you just have 5 years. If that becomes the rule then Wade, Manny and Jace having something to consider.

I would think Manny, Wade and Phelps will be ready to play Pro ball somewhere and make real money.

Wade and Phelps pay here is probably on par or better with what they'd make somewhere else. Wade especially.
