Those skins have decomposed as they are so old. When he was cheating he was great. After that he has been average. I'm not saying it's a bad hire, but I expected them to make a massive hire and they didn't. Doesn't mean that he cant take them to a final 4, but I don't think college basketball is saying; "Oh wow, Texas isn't messing around". It's more like, "that's a nice hire".

He just got one of the bigger NIL budgets in the sport, something he sorta had at Arizona and definitely didn't have at Xavier. This is a really good hire for them, with a high floor and quite a high ceiling.

Yeah that's the only time in the last 7 seasons that he won an NCAA tournament game. He is a good coach. But I think we all expected a better hire from the Horns.

I still think the guy is a really good coach. They'll certainly be better than they've been, but maybe won't be national title level good like they would have been/were under Beard.

Interested to see where Xavier goes. The UConn assistants will be available prior to April for the first time in several years, or do you go all the way back and get a Chris Mack reunion? Lots of options in between those as well.

Miller has been a possession away from a final four a few times in his career. Golden has two ncaat wins, which is less than Mike White.

He didnt even finish fifth in the region. Again. Like every other year we made the tourney with him as coach.

If Buzz is at Drake or at Colorado State - it is only because he is recruiting Portal Transfer players from those teams!

He will be here in College Station next year earning his THIRD SEC Coach of the Year Award!

Billy talked about Buzz's future this morning, and I agree with his overall view that his current contract (+$4.5M) is set for the upcoming 2-3 years and there are not many options for him to leave.

For instance, Colorado State's men's basketball salary in 024-25 was $1.7 million and was set to rise to $2 million by the end of the contract (see source).

The only two non-football schools who might be able to provide the same level of compensation are Xavier and Villanova.

Buzz Salary 2024-2025 = $4.6M + 75K guarantee bonus + 850K (max bonus in variables) - see source

There's something off about Jans. Can't put my finger on it though.

Jans is not one that I would expect to see come up very often in a Buzz Williams thread, primarily because he's like 1-7 in the NCAA Tournament right now or something like that? You can't really come up woth a serious Buzz William's complaint and then follow it up with "but Chris Jans!"

That said he is the most incredibly consistent coach in the SEC right now. 21 wins, 8-10, 9th place every season so far.
