He's in his second year with the Portland Trailblazers and is either injury prone or just doesn't wanna play very much.

He has played in 227 of a possible 533 games (42%) in his career and continually has chances to start/play, but comes up injured or ill. Portland's center Deandre Ayton has been down and Williams has an opportunity to start Saturday, but was "ill". This is how Yahoo characterized it:

Iffy against Miami
Williams is listed as questionable for Saturday's game versus the Heat due to an illness.
Advice: Despite being absent from the injury report all day, Williams is now in danger of missing Saturday's contest due to an illness. Even if Williams is upgraded to available, there is no guarantee he will receive any playing time.

There are some who say he better shape up or he'll be out of the league soon.

His career earnings are over forty million

Sometimes I am amazed that some athletes achieve that kind of financial success, some over $100 million, and they still put in the physical and mental work, still put their body on the line, and still have that fire to beat everyone driving them no matter their financial status.

some people play for the love of the game and just happened to be enriched for it. others play for the lov of the attention, accolades, whatever and are enriched for it. some people just hit the genetic lottery even if they don't appreciate it or truly want to use their talents.

not saying this is the case with robert williams but it definitely happens to many athletes that make it to the pros.

Robert turned some heads when he came back for his 2nd year here. He was in no rush to go pro.

That was an interesting decision for sure.

He's had a very large problem staying healthy. Some just have rough luck with that. When he plays he's very effective

Hope he is getting sound financial advice and is able to enjoy his life and stop playing anytime he desires to do so.

Thought that dude would become a dominant rebounder/defensive force. Maybe not quite like Rodman, but close. Sure had the physical tools. Bummer it hasn't worked out.

Wait! Great idea! I know he has some eligibility left!

Let's test the NCAA and bring him back to grad school.

Time Lord needs to Regenerate into a new body that doesn't get injured as much.
