I haven't watched enough OU to know, but they looked well coached in the first half, especially on how to attack our defense. Our first half offense was what I anticipated, but our poor defense had me shell shocked.

We went to a zone the 2nd half for some time and that was ...okay. But our man2man thenlast 8 minutes was great. Did we change something?

I have to admit, I don't think I've ever seen us change how we play man, and it has cost us in the past.

It seems like we changed our defense to "don't over pursue, and rebound. And when we did, good things happened.

Did I see it right or did OU start pressing due to pur comeback?

I don't know how much we changed it but it seemed like we just did better at getting into position and not having breakdowns that lead to scrambling.

Also seemed a little more intentional about who was guarding specific OU players on certain possessions.

Defensive intensity was ramped up and at the same time OU's legs wore down because they don't have much depth imo.

That's exactly what we needed to do. I lost my mind and upset the whole house when Goodey (sp?) hit number 9. At some point, you have to adjust, even if it's "your identity".

How many teams have held up against our D by the end of the game?

It seemed to be more straight man to man and not leaving #2 on the weak side open, which I actually like a little better than the aggressive helping man to man/ matchup zone we normally play. Great adjustment by the team and fantastic comeback.

And those 2 were 10 games ago against a different Aggie team entirely.

Started guarding the ball a heckuva lot better. That was our problem the first half and some of the second, by far the worst on-ball defense I've seen us play, which led to all the scrambling and eventually open threes.

In conference play it's obvious we are a second half team

Goodine I believe with an unbelievable game. He did all he could to get that win. 3-15 on threes the previous 5 games and he hits 9-11 including 6-8 in first half IIRC.

It looked to me that we got out of our hybrid, matchup defense. OU was baiting us into the traps on the wing to swing the ball to the opposite corner, and the rotation help was just too far away to affect the shot. There was another moment I remember where Jace helped off #2 to double the corner, and left #2 with enough space to get off the wing 3. I agree that OU was well coached, did a great job of scouting Buzz's defense, and then executed their plan perfectly. But we did still win =)

I remember a moment in the second half when I noticed Andy upped his defensive intensity and chose to be a difference maker there. It was around the time he fumbled that almost-steal out of bounds, and then got the ball on a steal after they inbounded.

That kind of effort is infectious.
