As you alluded to we have enough depth to rotate through until we find a hot hand on the outside (or not like we did against Texas...) and that's one thing that keeps me hopeful for tonight.
It would be kind of funny if, with Wade out, everyone else has some kind of one shining moment game and we shoot like 45% from 3. Not only way above our normal terrible shooting but against a team that's one of the nation's best at defending the perimeter.

The answer is, of course, no, but a lot of times when a key player goes out everyone else puts it into an extra gear for a game or two, they focus in more because it's an opportunity for them to step into a bigger role, etc.
Combine that with Oklahoma's fairly soft defense anyway which should play to Hefner and Wilcher's style more and I think you've got a recipe for a "playing above our heads" game from the guys that are playing.
Having said that even my wife made the comment the other night that 4 just didn't seem to fit the team.
Now, she probably based that purely on his size instead of style of play, turnovers, etc. Still interesting to consider. Especially when we went on a run against tu the second he left the game. We look more like a team offensively when he's not in the game.

IV is the team's best clutch free throw shooter, so you lose that asset down the stretch.

OU is not the best team we've played this season so far, but if we go to Norman and win tonight without Four, it will be more impressive to me than beating Purdue in Indy with Four.

Manny isn't great at the PG role when he is expected to distribute the ball; even with a gimpy Taylor I like those odds better. If we win this game, this might be the best Buzz's best coached game of his A&M tenure.

Phelps strikes me as a guy that will make them when we need him to, but yeah a late game scenario would be interesting.
Our next-best FT shooter is Wilcher, but he's hard to get open on an inbounds pass. Next best is actually Solo but he's a turnover risk.

I think it would be better than "kind of funny". It would be AWESOME.
Someone will need to step up. My guess is Payne or Phelps. I believe Wade's absence creates the opportunity/requirement for someone to have a breakout game.
Payne and Phelps have been stepping up though.

An interesting player to watch if we're looking for someone to step up might be Jace. 16 points and 5 rebounds vs Tech but really stifled since then. He's stayed consistent with around 20 minutes, but had 1 point against t.u. and 0 in Indy.
I'm a big fan of how he plays, so I'm hoping he can step up tonight.

Regardless of how he performs offensively in games, he always brings the energy defensively and does things that don't show up on stat sheets here and there. I'm hoping he has a good one today.
Really hope we win tonight because Alabama looks sharp.
