I dont know how we can get college sports, especially football, collectively to move off of the absurd way polls are just about lining everybody up and then counting losses. We talked about Oklahoma, but the very top of the poll where people should do the most research is no less bad. Auburn has the best wins, best sos, best strength of record, best metrics and its not close. But what we get is " Dur, Tennessee number one because ranked higher first and fewer losses."

I guess it all just depends on what you view the poll as

Is it the 25 best teams or is it 25 teams ranked in order of having the best season?

Auburn is better than Tennessee and also having a better season than Tennessee too. Tennessee just hasn't had to play a top 5 team on the road. That's the only difference in their loss column. Counting losses is taking credit away from teams who play harder games, and giving credit to teams who haven't had to play them.
