Buzz made a pivot in the new era and deserves a lot of credit.
A&M could not consistently beat guys like Caliparri with the best HS players in America verses TX HS and young talent.

Now Buzz has a group of players with four years of experience, and close relationships and he's winning.
Not sure how he convinced everyone to stay and play but he's done something to be replicated,

100% agree, but also let's see how it goes next year, could be scary.

Building to a crescendo with a roster is fine, but you can't fall off a cliff the following year and take 3-4 more years to get back.

Gonna have to keep landing big portal additions. Guys like Zhu, Payne, Wilcher will be hard to find every year, but the value they bring is undeniable.

Yep, and can't keep having guys transfer out after their freshman year.

It's okay to have a rebuilding year but in this age of transfer portal, rebuilding should only take one season.

Proud of the team for going into a big time environment and walking out with a W.

Yeah we are super duper loaded with experience. He has built an incredible culture to get these guys to buy in like he has and stay.

Manny is probably the best example.

Next year will be interesting to see how Buzz reloads. The portal additions this year seemed to go about as well as could be expected. Really impressive.

Coleman

Who else?

Jace Carter
Hefner
Manny
Phelps
Wilcher

All seniors. We lose about half of our total team. Most of our major contributors and all of our lead guards.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Any of those have a chance to come back as grad seniors?

If we can keep everyone in the program at least they'll have some decent chemistry from playing together in practice.

We have a lot of bodies returning next year, just not a lot of playing experience.

These days who really knows but not based on my understanding of the rules, those guys are all done.

Ha, so better question is who returns?

1. Solo
2. Payne
3. Turkson (6'7 fr)
4. Mills (6'4 fr)
5. McDermott (6'7 fr)
6. Ratowski (6'11 fr)
7. Lee (6'8 soph)

Gonna have to find several guards in the portal to have any shot at competing next year.

We will see. What happens after this year will tell us the future. Would be interesting if Buzz sees the list of departures as an opportunity to join them. Not saying it is. Just would be interesting.

I really don't expect it but I bet fans of Marquette and VT would've said the same.

I wouldn't be that surprised if Buzz retired, I'd pretty pretty surprised if he jumped for another job

Buzz is only 52. Maybe he would enjoy doing something else like being a prof.
He is teaching a Leadership course now at TAMU.

He has been paid a lot over the years to coach, and has likely saved a lot of his earnings.

Pretty sure he said he and his family live on a set amount like 500k. That's been 4 or 5 years ago tho.

Feels like we're gonna need to allocate a healthy portion of NIL to pick up a real stud transfer or two to keep the tourney streak alive (assuming we make it this year).

This year really is our best chance at a deep run. it's all about the experience and depth.
