We hang around due to oreb and hustle. But if you put mediocre shooters in bad shooting looks you will never be more than a fringe Top 25 team.

Buzz has no offensive schemes and is a fraud of a coach. The last two games the Aggies had last possession of first half and the damn plays were for Taylor to dribble into the trees and turn it over. This team will be lucky to be .500 overall.

.500 overall is stupid but I am dialing my expectations way back. Drawing fouls is good basketball. We stopped the bleeding in this game by being aggressive rebounding and getting up the floor drawing fouls away from the basket. If your plan to win a game is pray you get fouled by driving under the basket, even if you're good the officials are just gonna swallow whistles when you need points the most.

Part of the problem now is last year's OREB % has enabled him to think that is the key.

There's very little chance we can repeat those numbers.

We generated those offensive rebounds shooting jump shots not getting blocked with 3 defenders around you so trying to do what we did last year is not exactly whats happening.

I'd say the basketball team has been a lot worse. This team returned a lot of starters from a squad that was already pretty good, yet has looked NITastic so far. If we don't get our crap together pronto, we may not be above 0.500 entering conference play.

On the other hand, our offense under Jimbo was UGLY for several years (particularly the OL) and then the offensive unit this season had much worse than average injury luck. Defense absolutely disappointed against Auburn, but other than that the team has done a pretty good job IMO.

So we run an offense?

It didn't look any different than what we have come to expect. Really bad basketball, but will somehow be a 7-10 seed in the end.

not sure anybody expected us to compete in football. i think out of the 3 main sports, I expected

1. baseball - top 5
2. basketball - top 15
3. football - top 25

i think football will finish top 25. not sure about basketball. buzz's team are consistently bad on offense.

But at the same time, Buzz has done nothing of note here. The last 3 coaches all produced more. He was what I thought was a slam dunk hire, but I think we could have made any number of hires that could have reproduced these results.

I don't disagree here. But, let us not forget the NIT year we went to the SEC tournament championship on a glorious run and got hosed by the committee.

The year after that we beat #1 Alabama in the home finale and tie for the SEC regular season title IIRC going 15-3 in conference play.

And as mentioned, last year we were some damned missed free throws away from upsetting the team that was ranked #1 most of the entire regular season and getting to the Sweet 16 at worse.

That seems like progress to me, even if the consistent early season woes against inferior teams are massively frusrating to all of us. I'm not overly confident in this thing right now, but let us at least get to conference play (not directed at you) before the same old tiresome Buzz hate commences before Thanksgiving has even occurred.

If Buzz would just take care of business throughout the season (in which he is well compensated) he wouldn't have to rely on magical runs or worry about getting screwed by the committee.

The UCF and Oregon losses are the type that keep a team on the 8/9 line, instead of being on the 4/5 line. Buzz has basically the same team for a third straight year, and yet he still hasn't figured out what to do offensively.
