Nothing new. It's this way every year.
Buzz will be a hero to everyone when his team makes a NIT run or loses a first round game.
He took the #1 seed to OT this calendar year in March.
Top seeds get taken to the wire every single tournament. It's not a skin on the wall unless you actually win.
We also didn't lose in the first round. If we beat #1 Houston there is no doubt in my mind we make it to the Final Four.
And the only time Buzz has taken a team here to the NIT we lost on the last shot of the game in the Championship.
BCR's comment is either hyperbole or ******ed.
I don't disagree that it was a bit of hyperbole.
But at the same time, Buzz has done nothing of note here. The last 3 coaches all produced more. He was what I thought was a slam dunk hire, but I think we could have made any number of hires that could have reproduced these results.
I don't disagree here. But, let us not forget the NIT year we went to the SEC tournament championship on a glorious run and got hosed by the committee.
The year after that we beat #1 Alabama in the home finale and tie for the SEC regular season title IIRC going 15-3 in conference play.
And as mentioned, last year we were some damned missed free throws away from upsetting the team that was ranked #1 most of the entire regular season and getting to the Sweet 16 at worse.
That seems like progress to me, even if the consistent early season woes against inferior teams are massively frusrating to all of us. I'm not overly confident in this thing right now, but let us at least get to conference play (not directed at you) before the same old tiresome Buzz hate commences before Thanksgiving has even occurred.
