The fish who was ignored by many recruiting services even after winning the Guy Lewis Award as best boys high school basketball player in the greater Houston area earlier this year - and might even be a preferred walk on this year (not sure if he is on scholarship).
In spite of making his first ever collegiate bucket on a rebound of a missed shot and put back, the achievement was ignored by the announcers as they mistakenly attributed the action to Manny Garcia! The terrible announcing crew also repeatedly mixed up Payne and Phelps during the game.
I focused on the kid when Buzz sent him in and saw alot to like in terms of energy and court positioning for a first ever game at this level.
I also think it is interesting that he got 9 min of game time over the more highly touted freshmen from last year's recruiting class. I don't think we've seen Mills or Turkson yet in a game...
