I think not. I've been a real fan of Buzz, but last night's game was the last straw. He can't be blamed for pathetic shooting and turnovers, but he can be blamed for failing to make changes and adjustments during the game. He was out-coached yet again. This team has real tournament potential but will end up in the NIT.

You're going to have to give it one more year after coming off back to back 25+ win seasons. 15-10 without your starting center for the entire season, with a mediocre roster, isn't exactly trash. If there is no tournament this year or next, as a huge Buzz fan you just have to pack your bags and say let's try a new journey.

I agree that Buzz will get one more year, but it won't be because of his accomplishments on the court (or lack thereof). it will simply be because:

1. we don't have a permanent AD in place
2. A&M as a fanbase on the whole doesn't care that much about basketball
3. We are payng a ton for jimbo's buyout, so not going to pay another one because (see reason 2)

Buzz already had his "5-7" (actually worse) -- it was Year 2.

And just like some Jimbo defenders could always point out a QB injury as to the reason for underperformance, many will point to having to deal with the same pandemic the entire nation of schools had to do deal with as his reason for underperformance.

Some people will just excuse underperformance until the coach is gone, then they'll claim they knew it all along.

Jimbo would not have been fired if you shuffled the years and made year one this year's 7-6 and his year two 5-7 though, so no its not really the same. Plus again, the assumption is that going 5-7 for Texas A&M football is the same as going 8-10 in basketball. Texas A&M basketball is not Texas A&M football.

When money gets mad there isn't any reason involved. Bjork's made up excuse was a throwaway comment and he knew he would leave. Just like Woodward knew he would leave when he hired Buzz and possibly Jimbo…

Big money is at every football game. Big money isnt even in the building for basketball in Nashville, or Fayetteville, or even in Reed Arena on a weeknight.

i think whats even more absurd is a big man shooting less than 30%. Even baby giraffe keith davis and dylan johns weren't that bad.

In June of 2023, at the time of the 2 year extension through 2028, the following was written:

"Buzz Williams is a tremendous leader and role model for our student-athletes, and he's a great example of Texas A&M's core values," Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork said. "He's taken our men's basketball team to new heights over the past two seasons with even brighter days ahead."

The 2021-2022 Season had a winning percentage of .675 which was our 25th best of all time.
The 2022-2023 Season had a winning percentage of .741 which was our 17th best of all time.

And won zero tournament games in either of those years. I know we haven't had a ton of success in March, but we've at least made a few Sweet Sixteens. I hardly see how doing well in the NIT one year and getting your doors blown off in the first round of the tournament the next years is "new heights".

Be careful...you'll be called a Hater by some on this board. Also, they will tell you that one player is the difference in the season. If so, exactly how has recruiting not allowed you to be in a position to absorb that loss so as to avoid losing games inexplicably? Oh, and also they will be satisfied with a coach that appears to be good person, so as not to be a program that wins at all costs.

Yes, I'll be the first to say Arkansas was out multiple guys the other night and still beat A&M - however, Arkansas is sitting at .500 on the year after going to the sweet 16 and beating a 1 seed. Pretty poor coaching am I right?....No, its called SEC basketball, it's not a cake walk.

Look at Memphis, they've tanked since their best player got hurt. To say that one guy can't make an enormous difference in - like I stated 7 games decided by single digits is ignorance at its' finest. Imagine winning just three of those games and sitting at 18-8 (8-5) - the same as Kentucky and Florida. Would we still hear the masses crying about this season on here? Probably so, cause this is where the keyboard warriors come out and think they are all the likes of Geno Auriemma.

LOL...YOU appear to be the only one crying because not everyone has this apparent fascination with Buzz. They are simply looking at results, REGARDLESS of the excuses (or reasons) year after year.

If he manages to lead them into the NCAA's and gets a win, then of course things would be looking a lot more positive. If, however, they fail to make the NCAA's that would be 4 out of 5 seasons. So keep telling us how hard the SEC is, but please enlighten everyone as to what expectations should go along with a head coach who has the 10th highest (tied with Musselman) salary in the country.

I've seen some Buzz teams here do some amazing things. 2022 was an amazing turnaround- a switch--flipper like i've never seen.

Last year was an incredible conference run- followed by massive tourney disappointment.

I'm really on the fence here, but I think he needs one
more year to see if he can bring in the talent that will
make a difference.

I still dont know what his dream team looks like- what he's building for or towards.

Arkansas has four SEC conference wins this year and half of them are against us.

I wish we were them...

7 of the 14 SEC teams have at least 5 conference losses. Texas A&M is right there in the middle of the pile at 6-7 with three of those seven losses being one possession games. Considering you are down your starting center, I'm not sure why people think the sky is falling on this program. But, hey I guess people have to complain about something - what else is a message board good for.

You're really carrying the ball on this down your starting center thing. It's not like he went out in the middle of the season and we had to adjust in flight. At no point leading up to the season was he part of the team.

Without him, we were always going to be inconsistent, but we've been worse than we needed to be, especially on defense. This doesn't have to be like every internet argument. We don't need to run to the corners of "Buzz sucks" or "Buzz is great." There's also still some time to find it again and right the ship, it's not like our last game is tomorrow.

But if we're trying to predict where this plane is going to land this season, right now it doesn't look good, and there's really no excuse for how poor we were in both Arkansas games.

Yes, very fair points. I am just defensive win it comes to the pitchforks coming out and not looking at the broader and realistic expectations.....So therefore, a message board probably isn't the best place to be for someone like me.

So being down our starting center is the reason for our poor shooting, abysmal offense for the fifth year in a row, and giving up wide open threes defense all the time for the third year in a row?

People have latched on to the three point defense, and I get it, teams shoot a lot of them against us and it's what sunk us in the tournament last year, but the difference the last few games (other than Alabama which is a different story anyway) isn't the three point defense, it's that teams are getting to the paint against us.

The whole point of this defense is to keep people away from the basket but Arkansas hit like 50 and-1s against us. They only shot 26% from beyond the arc and Vandy only shot 30%.

That's where the breakdown is.

I would agree, these are good times.

- Basketball is off to a great start and ranked in the top 15
- Baseball team is ranked as a preseason #1 in multiple polls
- Softball is ranked in the top ten with the number 4 pitcher and SS in the country
- Track and field has several athletes ranked in the top 10
- Women's tennis is ranked number 2
- Men's team is ranked in the top 15
