Catchy name, but maybe that whole idea needs to change. Can't believe a college team is so bad at shooting.

We need a good theory like the rims in the practice gym are a few inches too short or the whole basketball practice facility is slightly off level.

Is shooting with Buzz basically just the guys shooting without any defenders or something? Hefner for instance looks like he's a great shooter against lower level competition and he has time to shoot. Against better competition, he is awful. And according to Buzz, he's the 2nd best shooter on the team next to Taylor. Maybe shooting with Buzz doesn't simulate game conditions very well….

I think Buzz just rebounds and passes

Less reading to kids. More jumpshots. Let the walkons do community service.

As of today, A&M is ranked 343 in 3-point shooting (26.6%) out of 362 teams. Baylor is #1 at 43.23%

I think I may have the answer.

Buzz needs to start handing out socks for assists.

Once our passing improves I think our shooting will also improve. Our second leading assist man is Andy with 23 assists in 14 games...

If you would like some perspective on that number, KenPom only goes back to 1999 and no Power 5 team during that period has ever shot as low at 26.6% from 3 for an entire season. We are on track for the worst percentage in at least a quarter century vs our peers.

But tomorrow night one of the commentators will reference Hefner as a sharpshooter from 3 and thousands of casual Aggie Basketball fans will parrot it.

Hell we need an NIL deal where if anyone besides Taylor makes multiple threes in a conference game they get a car, or might as well make it a house

He is still at 35%, practically makes him Steve Kerr by comparison

Sure. Incentivizing these guys to shoot even more 3's is a BEILLIANT idea.

Where do you get your rankings since there are 362 D1 teams this year???

we don't have a cast of great shooters but we also do ourselves no favors by taking a ton of bad shots.

wade especially takes a lot of 3's that are way beyond the arc.

The "offense" is nothing more than a game of 1 on 1, leading to horrible, contested shots. Easy way to measure the effectiveness of an offense (watch tonight)- just count how many contested shots we have (and watch how many open looks Auburn has).

His zone defense is a pre-1990's concept when the 3 was more rarely shot and not as commonly made. Gives up open 3s consistently. If not giving up an open 3, puts us way out of position when a halfway effective opposing offense rotates to the weak side and we have guys jumping out after shots. Easy way to measure the effectiveness of a defense is watch how many open looks they get against our defense (compared to them).

Will be interesting to watch tonight. But it's been a familiar story of the above all season for multiple seasons.

Main problem I have is a lack of adjustment. Different schemes work well against different teams. Buzz seems to have a one-size fit all no matter who we play.

To simplify it further, after last night's shooting debacle against Auburn, only Houston Christian, Coppin State, IUPUI, Utah Valley and Detroit Mercy are worse shooting 3-point teams. Statistically speaking.

Only Hefner (34%), Andy (37%) and Manny (30%) are shooting 30% or better from 3. Might I add that the two portal transfers - Eli Lawrence and Jace Carter are shooting 18% and 20%, respectively.
