I think many fans who follow Men's basketball every year are generally disappointed with attendance in Reed. With the second highest opener attendance ever, and a top 15 ranking, we may be on a path to set an average attendance record. It was very encouraging to see the student attendance for that first game. I understand the challenges of mid week games relative to former student attendance, and it's difficult to get BCS locals who didn't go to A&M interested in the games. But I would think more students would be looking to kill time, have fun, and use their all sports pass (still a thing?) given the enormous student body.

This is always tickets sold, not bodies in seats. Many season ticket holders don't attend every game and don't try, or can't, sell their tickets - based on observation.

Also helps that ORU is a Friday before a football game, albeit a crappy football game

Will depend on how these next few weeks go. Survive non-conference play with only 1 or 2 losses and still firmly within the Top 20? We'll have a chance to set the record.

Drop out of the Top 25 before then and it'll be tough.

I bet it'll be lower than we want. Just how it's been historically. I'll say 9,500

9,900 and having so few non-conference games at home will help.

Gotta get alumni to start packing Reed the way the students are

I'm no expert at this, but looking at the Aggie Athletics ticket page and Seatgeek seems to indicate it will be a well attended Friday night game.

Interesting that our high water mark for attendance was the Turgeon years (2008-11), and he's the one who belly-ached about it the most.

That is funny, maybe his whining did sell tickets? No, it was just a run of success on the court at the time.

The numbers are tickets sold, but butts in seats, and despite the numbers we too often have empty sold seats and not the most energetic crowds of students don't show up.

It was a good crowd, lots of students (but room for more) and the general public filled the upper deck (along with me) pretty well.

If we can keep the ranking going into SEC play the. We have a shot for a record average attendance

Average attendance will probably drop slightly from here. Baseball will probably take some fans.

It'll be interesting. Baseball will be a small factor, all of them being midweek games is a bigger factor, the fact that we're not having the kind of season we hoped is probably the biggest factor.

Weird that baseball starts at 4 and not 3.

I started the thread because I thought it was possible to set an average attendance record this year. The current number would be good for 2nd all time, if we average 12,203 over final 3 we can tie the 2008 record. We've averaged 12,466 over the previous 3 games.

If all my numbers are right anyway.

No Marble, had some injuries, have under performed relative to preaseason ranking - so looks like we won't get to a new record given the final 3 are midweek games. Still a strong attendance year for Texas A&M.

More butts in seats definitely can make for an engaged crowd that propels the team. Until we hit the road at least.

I think having the tu game on the schedule is going to bump up numbers this year, combined with the fact that we'll likely be a top 10 team for some portion of our conference play.
