He made that look so easy. Mad impressive, but I've never understood going that heavy for basketball. Baseball, football, hockey sure, but with hoops it likely does more harm than good. At his age not so much, but I doubt anyone in the nba is doing more than 315 no matter how big they are

For a big going man to man like more traditional NBA forecourt it might have helped. But for a shooting big I would have guessed twitch is more important. Now someone up against Shaq trying to contain him physically? Possibly though maybe different muscle groups with back than with front?

Just scheming that a little…

Sweet source there guy. There is less than a 0% chance KD can squat 315. The fact you'd believe that is insane to me. There's a million articles from credible sources that say the opposite. NBA players train for hops and fast twitch, meaning low weight and high reps, explosive movements, quarter pulse squats and stuff like that.

Stop looking at in season workouts and look at off-season stuff. Sorry you don't believe it but it's a fact that basketball players are doing full squats with heavy weight in the off season. Why the hell do you think our players are doing them?

Ha here's your boy benching 315…it's a joke video because anyone with eyes and half a brain knows he can't bench 315. And sorry but you're wrong, very few nba players are heavy squatting. Just look what heavy lifting did to AD. Dude is now an injury waiting to happen every game and hasn't played close to a full season since he muscled up. It's such a fine balance with basketball, as with any other finesse sport like tennis or golf or soccer etc. Sure, there'll be the occasional bruiser type player that can throw up heavy weight, but they're few and far between and the fact you actually let yourself believe KD was one of them makes the whole point of talking to you a worthless endeavor. Cool for Henry…hope he doesn't get bodied this year on the boards like last year. You can squat 500, now do something with it.

You are probably right. I am guessing you are really close to several S&C programs. Keep spreading the word.

Squat is an explosive exercise. It directly correlates to the type of movement and force he needs to have on the block. Way more applicable than bench press.

Karl Malone, Ben Wallace, Shaq, probably David Robinson, Dwight Howard, Blake Griffin.... probably all squatted this heavy.

Awesome videos. "Light Weight, babyyyy" - Ronnie Coleman

Not saying it was right or wrong, and if it translates to pro/college conditioning, but in high school our S&C coaches had us big doing squats and the rational was ability to get vertical up to the basket when you got several opposing bigs on top of you or wrestling for the ball. We weren't very good so there is also that...

1/4 squat at best, but still a lot of weight
