Was star player at ORU. Heard he was high school teammates with Marble. Also has 2 years or so of NCAAT experience. Would be good to get him.

Another Wade? I think he's looking for starting minutes.

They call him midcourt Max for a reason.

I'd love to get him but how is this possibly realistic? That's my general question.

And you don't think he can start here? He can start just about anywhere

Marble being his friend is what gives us a possible chance. If we didn't have that, I would give us no shot.

Better than Wade but would be nice to have him because he and Wade would be good.

A long shot to be sure, but he'd be an incredible piece to add…

Max/Wade would be the best backcourt in the nation even if they're both PGs

Also small but abmas wouldn't be playing by himself

Would be a great addition but if we don't add a big or two with long arms and some reasonable level of coordination to defend other contenders with same we will tap out early again imo. We need better 3 pt shooting for sure but we also need rim protectors for certain opponents.

Don't get me wrong, our bigs are good players but they are very limited as far protecting the rim from the likes of Tshibwe and those like him (UConn had 2, Fla Atl had 1, tu had one).

Solo and Garcia are the more highly defensive bigs than Marble and Coleman. Solo will turn out to be a Robert Williams 2.0, and Garcia plays with a lot of confidence and makes game winning plays.

I've been very high on Solo from the jump, but he's not as big as Rob and can't hold up as well against true bigs in the paint. His strength is more in his versatility defensively.

I think we could definitely use a guy with real size who can block shots, but who couldn't use that?

Exactly! I wish people and Buzz stopped thinking 6'6 players are post players, they'll never stop the Bediako's or Tshibwe's of the world! We need length big time!

This is not a you are wrong response, just a fun fact on Oscar There is only one SEC team that Tshibwe has averaged single digits for his career against. It's 7.5 ppg against A&M. The next lowest is vs Tennessee at 13.2 ppg. Worst is UGA at a whopping 28.7 ppg.

Just looked up Bediako.

He averages 8.7 ppg vs A&M with his career average vs SEC teams being 6.7. 8 rebs a game vs us compared to his SEC average of 5. So we definitely are not the best vs him.

I don't think we want small bigs, but given the choice of skill vs versus just size, Buzz is going to take skill.

I'm sure we'd love to have a Bediako or Tsheibwe if we could get one. Instead we get a Javonte Brown.

I also think this is attributable to scheme.

Buzz isn't going to play a big unless they can somewhat defend on the perimeter. Just the scheme of the defense

We also have doubled and sometimes tripled Oscar which has been effective against him but allowed other guys to beat us. If we had a guy or two that could hold their own against him and bigs like him than that would be a major plus imo. Maybe Washington is that kind of guy, I'm not saying he isn't but he also only gets 5 fouls per game. I love Garcia but he isn't strong enough to hold up to that kind of player imo.

If we could clone a guy like Nebo.

And I think that goes along with what most of us want. A long athletic big like a Bediako
halfastros81
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I get that but you can't defend all teams the same way. You have to adjust to their strengths and weaknesses and right now if we run into teams with prolific post men we have an issue. Maybe we can control their big with doubles but it frees up their other players to wreak havoc. If we had one guy that could reasonably match up that would change the equation against those kind of teams. I will say this, maybe only 25% of the teams have that but those are the ones that will take
You out at tourney time.

Granted , Penn St didn't really have that and they took us out as well but for other reasons.

The switching and doubling worked on Castleman because Florida didn't have the complementary players to take advantage even tho Castleman was among the best post passers out there. Sometimes it works but not against the more talented squads.
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think our length on the perimeter is a much bigger issue than our length inside.
halfastros81
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I agree we need both but I think they are equally important and I also think Manny could help a lot on the perimeter. I don't see anyone on the roster that can help
Inside
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm not sure they're equally important. I think there are way more teams that can give us problems with perimeter length than ones with inside length.

I dunno on Manny, I'm in sort of "believe it when I see it" mode for him. He's a plus defender but he just doesn't bring anything at all to the table offensively really right now.
halfastros81
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I meant Manny can help defensively with bigger guards but I also think he has significant upside
Offensively . We got by pretty well defensively with our guards this yr albeit with Dennis on the roster.
halfastros81
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I don't know if Abmasis a plus defender or not but if we could add him and one serviceable big that could match up and win some defensive battles against premier bigs I think that's improvement of roster.
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm not all that worried defensively.

I guess I'm looking at it like the biggest consistent problem we had this year was when people could take Wade out of the game, we had big time struggles on offense.

And I'd think there'd be a lot more options out there to fix that quickly than there are skilled athletic bigs.
