The game plan was not very good. Buzz stayed into his system instead of doing what he needed to do to win the next game. We won't be good in the tournament until he is willing to game plan out of his system into what it takes to win the game he is in at the moment.
Saying that, Penn State would have been a hard game for any team on the defensive side of the ball. They have 4 guys shooting over 40% from three and their spacing is immaculate. What they lack is depth and we never got to that lack of depth. We played their slow methodical game and ended up doing what Penn State wanted us to do.
In Buzz's or any good coach's system, you do not want to allow a team to reverse the ball and you do not want clean catches. A clean catch on a three is an easy three, when a guy has to put it in the shot pocket, take a dribble before shooting, or hesitate before shooting their percentage goes down.
Last night we allowed to many straight line passes that were in the shot pocket. That was mostly due to the doubling and Pickett picking us apart by understanding where the defense was coming from and the help was late.
