Six-Game Laps

I've heard Buzz refer in several interviews to his idea of dividing the 18 game conference schedule into three six-game segments or laps.

This allowed the coaches and the team to almost accept a single loss from each lap and simply move on - with the idea that going 5-1 for each of the three laps would get them right where they wanted to be - and where they are now: 15-3.

Note that within each six-game lap the single loss occurred at different points - in game 6 of the first lap (at Kentucky), game 3 of the second lap (at Arkansas) and game 4 of the third lap (at Mississippi State). Of course, in all of those instances after a loss - there were more games to be played.

Now, of course we all would like them to just win their next 9 games starting tomorrow night - but I think this team would almost be better off (and more dangerous in the NCAAT) if they took on that same "six-game lap" mentality into their initial post-season segment - where they just needed to go 5-1 again if they happen to lose a game during the SECT.

That would put them DEEP into the NCAAT (at least the second weekend) before finishing this next 5-1 lap - depending on whether their SECT loss occurred Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Then, of course, they could just win the next game or two or three to win the whole thing!

However, if the Aggies do go on to win the SECT - going 3-0 this weekend - then I reserve the right to eliminate any thoughts of another 5-1 six-game lap in this post-season - as I would prefer they just keep winning.

BTHO the post-season!!!

Haha. Yeah - we finished +6.

But that used home and away games in conference.

Doesn't apply in neutral site games.

So...I am just trying to have fun with another one of Buzz's "numberisms".

15-3 wins our league over half the time. If auburn doesn't blow their lead vs bama it wins again.

The conference tourney is essentially practice games for the NCAA tourney at this point for us. The way we're wired tho we put out maximum effort for every game .

Haha. Can you make a t-shirt with your guy, "Plussie", running laps on a track with six signs posted on the course along the way - "#1", "#2", "#3", etc.?

Buzz is the kind of coach/teacher that any parent would want for their kids!

I'm hoping that our performance these last 2 years and our (hopefully successful) upcoming post-season results creates a "buzz" (pun intended) about the Aggie Basketball Program and improves our visibility and profile among talented young players in high school (recruiting) and in college (portal) so that we continue to get a solid flow of good players that want to play for our coaches and with our current team.

Just sent Buzz a note to let him know you believe we need to stick with this strategy and you approve. All should be good. I am sure Buzz was heading into both tournaments without any talking points to motivate his team. Good thing you approve of him re-reading this one to them. Natty, here we come.

Is there any significance to the random years he posts for people's ages? I saw him do this for a woman on the staff who was clearly 25 or so and he had her age at like 57 or something. I thought maybe it was a typo but I'm sensing a pattern that I don't understand.

Putting this one back up here to remind all that, should the Ags get outscored and run out of time in today's SECT Championship game- that it will really be OK - as it is simply part of Buzz's six-game cycle where we just need to go 5-1 every 6 games.

2-1 in the SECT would put us at the Elite 8 before next six-game lap starts again - at which time I will just accept that we could lose one of our first 3 games NEXT season!

Of course, as I noted in OP, I reserve the right to cancel this "lap" if we win today!

Don't sweat it.

We are 2-1 in this post-season and already took our loss in the current six-game lap.

So we will absolutely win tonight and also emerge victorious in the two games following.

Then we can start the NEXT six-game lap for the Elite Eight game and Final Four - holding off on losing again until one of the first three games of NEXT season.
