Love seeing vandy so high. I like what Stack is doing there. Could be sleeper.

Got nothing but praise for Stackhouse and company, they're doing a good job in Nashville

Is there any chance that the SEC basketball tournament will move to Houston now that Texas and OU are joining the SEC?

Agree. Of all of the possible locations in the SEC footprint, you won't find a better set up than Nashville.

Great information. I hope MSU stays in that upper bracket.

Looking ahead and assuming Bama beats Auburn tonight- so that whether we get it done this Saturday against Bama or not - we are the 2 seed:

IF if all goes to form in these final games - we could be facing a desperate Auburn Team in our first game - with Bruce Pearl and his Tigers' NCAAT hopes on the line in the SECT (possibly even thinking they have to do what we did last year - win at least three games to get to the finals - and then pray that the selection committee actually pays attention to conference tournament results this year).

If we get past that first game - I think there is a decent chance that Vandy upsets Kentucky in Nashville (though there will be plenty of Kentucky fans in attendance - so it won't be like a home game for Vandy) - either way I like our chances to advance to the finals - where I would not be shocked to see Arky or Tennessee rather than Bama.

BTHO the SEC to just win the whole darn thing and get our NCAAT ticket punched on Selection Sunday with the tournament championship autobid!

I don't think MSU gets past Arkansas.

Beating Auburn 3x is a tall order, but doable. Kentucky in the 2nd round would be nice, but it would be a home game for them. Would rather face them than Alabama or Tennessee.

I would rather be the number one seed and face Tennessee, especially since the Zakai Ziegler is out.

on that note why dont they ever do it in NOLA anymore? I was there one year during the SECT and it was a blast. also good infrastructure for a tournament, hence it so often being a NCAAT host

It's scheduled to be in Nashville through 2035

The SEC is missing out by not having it rotate to places like Houston and New Orleans.
Houston is so much fun during the Rodeo season.

Agreed. The problem with Houston, New Orleans, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas, and other potential SECT sites is that the arenas are not really close to the hotels and fun stuff. In Nashville, the hotels and fun stuff are literally across the street or a max of 6 blocks away. It's a blast flying in, checking into your hotel room, and not getting in a vehicle again until you Uber back to the airport.

I can't speak to what you're calling "fun stuff" but there are more hotels closer to the Toyota Center in Houston than there are the arena in Nashville. At the very least, it isn't an issue. When I was in Houston at the Marriott for the weekend in, I think, 2015, there were plenty of places to eat within walking distance then. I'm hardly a fan of Houston (in fact, I stay away unless I have to go there), but I didn't much like Nashville either. It is a great place but is extremely difficult to get around there unless you're familiar with it.

Besides, none of this has anything to do with why the venues need to rotate. More fans need the opportunity to see these tournaments and there's no good reason why Houston shouldn't at least be given a shot. If the SEC finds that there is less support there, then they won't return. It will be a simple decision.

At least hold it three times in Nashville and twice two other places over 5 years. I've never been a fan of the same place every year unless there's just no other good alternative. And that's NOT the case here.

If the bracket stays as it is above, that looks pretty decent for us. Alabama, UK, and Arkansas on the other side of the bracket. Florida without Castleton and Tennessee without Ziegler on our side.

Kentucky has major injury issues now as well. Wheeler out indefinitely and other PG Wallace left game with ankle sprain last night. Playing Kentucky without both Wheeler and Wallace would be yummy.

If Auburn beats Tennessee at home, which seems plausible without Zeigler...

3. Mizzou (11-7) - 2-0 Head-to-Head over UK and UT
4. Kentucky (11-7) - Beat Tennessee twice
5. Tennessee (11-7)

6. Vandy (10-8) - beat Auburn
7. Auburn (10-8)

If Vandy beats Miss St, then it's a 4-way tie, which I believe shakes out thusly:

3. Mizzou (3-0 in head to heads)
4. Kentucky (3-2; also beat higher seed Ags if applicable)
5. Vandy (2-3; split with UK & UT)
6. Tenn (1-3; split with Vandy)

Saturday will be fun to watch.

Would this board explode if they made the finals and get in after what happened to us last year?

4. Kentucky (11 - 7) Above Vandy and Tennessee and below Missouri based on round-robin record (3-2).
5. Vandy (11 - 7) Above Tennessee and below Missouri and Kentucky based on round-robin record (2-3).

Pretty sure they know uk sells all the tickets and keeping it close to them and a fun place for everyone else is smart.

Interesting. I did not realize they were down two guards. Sounds like playing UK now would certainly be better, but I think their length is what bothered us the most. That would still concern me.

Bro, that's what I have/said; just didn't use the phrase "round robin"; plus, UT's round robin is 1-3; played Missouri only once; otherwise, Missouri's round robin would be 4-0.

Question for the bracket gurus:

Am I reading it correctly that (for the purposes of the Tournament) it essentially doesn't matter what happens on Saturday, either way Bama is still the 1 and we're still the 2. Is that correct?
