Hey guys. I don't follow basketball too closely, so I try to stay away from here with my poorly informed takes. Since I don't follow closely, I also have no idea how Boots got this nickname. Does anyone know?

When he was younger, he played in cowboy boots because he had no sneakers.

Just kidding.....I believe it's because he's tough, tough as leather, tough as leather boots.

This is right. I think being from Louisiana, sometimes referred to as "The Boot", also factored into it.

Yeah, this is definitely part of it. The details of this nickname have been fuzzy at times and it makes me think there's actually a completely different reason for it but it's like an inside joke they don't want to share outside the program.
